I only ask because of this:

Because it's better than drinking alone, right Mr. Thurgood?
(x-post)

-- Pleasant Plains (acewhiske...), July 23rd, 2004 6:11 PM.

...which made little sense to me, I'm afraid. Admittedly, I used to drink alone a lot in the past (from Soho to Bromley) - but how would this individual know that? Or have I missed the point? Sorry if this seems like a somewhat self-absorbed query. I'm just curious. And curiouser.

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Other thread not good enough for you?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose I should've posted a link to the thread in which Pleasant Plains' comment originally appeared, but don't know how to accomplish this. If nothing else, perhaps someone could tell me how to set about doing so? Sorry, everyone! I am probably wasting your time with this. Obsessive nature, you see.

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

See? I've already pissed someone off. The other thread didn't answer my question, Roxy. Sorry. I'll fuck off now. It's not that important, is it?

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

My thanks, Ned. Now I can sleep. I completely missed the reference. Not familiar with George Thorogood, you see. Funny how often I am called "Thorogood", even though my surname has but two syllables.

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The other thread didn't answer my question

So you just started a new one? "This is the thread where I ask a question about what someone said one time on this other thread"? Are you made up or real?

That seems over-complicated. I'm not mad at you.

XPOST (see how that works?)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh don't worry, I'm not mad at you either. Oh wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Haw.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 24 July 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I assumed that the other thread had run its course and that nobody would bother to post anything further, leaving my (you must admit) fascinating question unanswered. And, Roxy, I'm not sure whether I'm made up or real.

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Haw HAW. I got the Thorogood thing right away, but I'm still waiting for Pleasant Plains to tell us the whole story behind the family that threw their used bumwipe in the wastebasket in lieu of the loo.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 24 July 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, wtf! That's some gnarl.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 24 July 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Not sure that posting things here will benefit my balance of mind. I'm going back to lurking. Lurk lurk lurk. That feels better already.

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

awwwwww, no! post post post! we don't bite.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 24 July 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Lurk.

[Shit. Posted it.]

Matt Thurgood (Matt T), Saturday, 24 July 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Because you're the first black Supreme Court justice?

Matt, I'm sorry. I made a bad reference from your last name to someone who doesn't even have the same name. And then I left work for the day and didn't see the thread again. I have no idea who you are, seriously.

If we really want to blame someone, blame Lileks. I read his bleat the other day, and now I can't get the song out of my head.

So this is what it takes to get a thread with my name in it? Cool.

As far as the wastebasket story is concerned, I think I explained enough on that thread. There really is no happy ending to anything like that, is there?

Hi, mom.

Hello, son.

Oh, shit, have I ever drank alone with you?

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 24 July 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
I wonder if you're still lurking out there, Mr. Thurgood, or at the very least, still drinking alone.

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 1 April 2007 04:57 (eighteen years ago)

maybe he prefers it that way did you ever think of that

iiiijjjj, Sunday, 1 April 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

What, lurking or drinking alone?

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 1 April 2007 05:10 (eighteen years ago)

both I guess

I had a few dos equis alone tonight after trying FRIED PICKLES for the first time. Dunno about those things.

That reminds me of when they take the libel lawsuit precautions like the character names in this movie.
