One Liter of Soda $1.25 - Two Liters of Soda $1.25. Who's Benefitting From This Smart Arrangement?

Not I. Ususally purchased as a mixer for alcoholic purposes, I can't keep a 2 liter fizzed up enough without squeezing the air out of the bottle to keep it alive. Even this doesn't work well on a half-used 2 liter because of air pressure or something. So half of the product goes to waste. So why not just buy the 1 liter?

Got a method of keeping your fizz in? Why's the price the same? Can packaging really be more costly than the product? Your thoughts are well appreciated.

BTW, what's with the useless pointed bottoms of the bottles that tend to fall over?

it's a conspiracy jim. they're designed specifically to frustrate and irritate you.

And it works.

just imagine all those bottle designers, sitting back and rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of sticky spilled soft drink all around the world. hours of fun.

how much do you get for refunds in VT nowadays, jim?

A staggering 5 cents. If it were a quarter, I'd go into business, picking up empties along the roadsides.

damn, it was a nickel back in the 80s (when i vacationed there w/ my parents)! cheapos!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 26 July 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

could be worse, they've taken all the 2 liters off the shelves in my grocery store.

Why?

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 26 July 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

so people will pay more for soda.

So the 2 and, even in the rot-gut category, 3 liter bottles might be disappearing soon at a store near me soon?

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 26 July 2004 04:13 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe?

I've got one of these "Fizz Keeper" pump-action bottle tops which I use to keep 2 litre bottles pressurised so that the soda doesn't go flat. It works very well.
