what you hate the most about morning time.

you know the story. the alarm goes off...you hit snooze...it goes off you hit it again goes off hit...this occurs (in my world anyway) for about an hour. then just when i realize i have 5 minutes to get ready and leave my house i jump out of bed and run around like a lunatic...yes yes i know this could all be avoided if i hadn't been hitting the snooze every 8 minutes for the last hour, but it never fails. so anyway...i guess my MOST hated thing about the morning is waking up. after that...it's a breeze :)

notamorningperson, Monday, 26 July 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I like staying in bed for as long as possible, but I hate running for the bus or tram.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Lately, it's been the insomnia. My brain wakes up super-early, as early as 4am this morning, but usually around 5.30/6, and I know I have an hour before my alarm goes off, but I just can't get back to sleep.

I don't know what it is causing this. It might be the sunlight cause I always forget to close the curtains. Or it might be having to get up to pee. But it's been really irritating me lately, like, I can't sleep in, even if I try.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not a morning person either. i slept til 1.48 today. hooray!

once i'm showered, dressed and up and about i'm ok though.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

The worst thing about mornings is perky motherfuckers who are already on 10 being happy assholes.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you hate me so, Nickalicious?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I am typically a morning person. But not today.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

dehydration

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a morning person, too, but damn I hate those sheet-wrinkles that crease up your face after a good, hard crash. Then, if you're running late you have to shave over 'em.

briania (briania), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate the other miserable people going to their jobs.

hmmm (hmmm), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't like the morning either, but with my job i can get up about 9:15-9:30, take fifteen minutes to get ready, and a 10 minute walk to work and i'm in before 10.

that said, i picked my flat just so i could do this. i would go mental if i had to deal with public transport every morning...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the thing I hate about mornings is the utter predictability of that part of the day. The whole shower/shave/brush teeth/put on clothes/have breakfast routine takes ages and has no possibility of something interesting happening (only possible surprises are of the 'I'm out of toothpaste/shaving foam/milk' kind). Even when you're doing routine things in other parts of the day there's always the possibility of something surprising/nice happening.

Joe Kay (feethurt), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate having to get out of bed when it's cold. Actually, no i hate getting out of bed at all!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Scowl-faced hens grimacing into the sun over their dashboards & sucking vengefully at their Virginia Slims with angry little suck-lines all around their mouths. Bet I see a half-dozen of those on every morning commute.

briania (briania), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i only hate mornings if the reason i'm getting up is to go to a job that i don't like. so lately i REALLY hate mornings. i'm VERY close to giving up and not going to work almost every day now. clearly i won't last long (i'm quitting in november and it can't come fast enough).

i used to think it was just me being very tired but it seems to be the same no matter how much sleep i get. it's more of a general malaise. granted, if i could sleep to 9am or beyond i'd probably be fine.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish i was a morning person. on the very odd occasion when i'm up super early it seems so nice - with the sun just coming up and everything so peaceful seeming, birds chirping and crap. even the way the air seems cleaner at 7am.

but fuck that, i live to sleep in.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Showering in winter.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate getting out of bed. i love sleeping. i used to feel bad about this, but fuck it. I LOVE BED, AND I HATE BEING TIRED.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I JUST BOUGHT A NEW MATTRESS!

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i need a new one, but i don't want to deal with getting it up 5 steep bendy flights into in my apartment.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

why do you think you would have to do it yourself? all mattress places do that for you. the hardest part is actually buying one, with all the brand names being different at every store, and mattress salesmen being worse than car salesmen.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i love waking up and knowing you can safely go back to sleep, even if that's just itself a sleep-induced trick of the mind. oooooh sweep sleep...

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

sweeT

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

why do you think you would have to do it yourself?

i tend to have bad luck with home delivery. it's a weird curse that has followed me around throughout my time here.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

morning piss wood.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

girls will never know what that is like.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 26 July 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

"i love waking up and knowing you can safely go back to sleep, even if that's just itself a sleep-induced trick of the mind. oooooh sweep sleep..."

I used to set my alarm an hour early so I could experience this feeling every day!! It made waking-up so much nicer.........

kickitcricket (kickitcricket), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been setting my alarm for 5:30am even though I don't have to leave until 6:45 (7 actually, but the subway is unpredictable). I need that extra bit of hang time; it helps me feel like less of a zombie.

Maneating Leopards of India (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 26 July 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

getting out of bed. going from no pressure, no thinking, all comfort, the second i get out of bed it seems like the rest of the day sort o falls on me. then second worst is getting to work extra early and realizing it's just that much longer until i get home :P

Maria (Maria), Monday, 26 July 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Lately, it's been the insomnia. My brain wakes up super-early, as early as 4am this morning, but usually around 5.30/6, and I know I have an hour before my alarm goes off, but I just can't get back to sleep.

This keeps happening to me too. This past evening: asleep at 1, awake by 4, had to get up in an hour and a half anyway so I stayed awake. Insomnia yeah, but I'm also really tired.

Maneating Leopards of India (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

You wake up without a care in the world & then loads of stuff hits you all at once. bleugh!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I am a freak and a weirdo - I love mornings and have no trouble getting out of bed. Even at the weekends, I like to get up around 8am and just potter about the house doing stuff. If I can do a bit of cleaning, get my washing out on the line and empty the bins I feel like I can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. The only downside to this is I get tired early and start to act zombielike after about 10pm.

The worst thing is definitely having to be at work.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the mornings at the weekend for all the reasons madchen states above, but not weekdays.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I get out of bed at 4:30am to get here for 6. I hate everything about the morning, not just piss wood. I also sleep in on weekends until 6:30am! Whoopee!

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I really hate when my oatmeal boils over and turns the spinplate in the microwave into a whole-wheat quagmire.

j.e.r.e.m.y (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i tend to start waking up around 5. i fall back to sleep, but continue waking up roughly every hour until 8.

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

What I hate about mornings is going to bed.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate not being hungry in the first hour after I wake up. I dont want food, I dont even want to think about food. This sucks and i hate it because i get to work an hour later and feel huge starvation coming on and there's no breakfast to be had.

AaronK (AaronK), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
The morning is simply too early. After all these years, I still can't get used to getting up at what is considered a normal hour.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i get up at 4am now. whoopee!

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I can just about cope, given tea and a hot shower. Obv. the ideal set up is when someone else makes the tea. A lack of milk and/or bathroom time will send me over the edge and ruin my whole day.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

this morning i had no milk for my coffee and i actually cried about it in the shower. but then i remembered that i did have ice cream. so i put a spoonful of it in my coffee and it was almost the same.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Emily, I'm glad you said that. I have cried over a lack of milk too. I feel less alone now.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

my love affair with bed continues. i will never enjoy mornings if bed and i are forcibly parted.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

that I don't get up.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

fucking nokia phone alarms, ugh

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i repeat: I HATE GETTING OUT OF BED.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate having 8am classes. i have to go outside in the cold and the wind and my hair freezes. i always think i'll die before i get to school.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Everybody Loves Raymond

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Getting out of bed is tough & I hate it .. but I hate most the inane morning conversations I hear when people are just getting in to work.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the thing I hate about mornings is the utter predictability of that part of the day. The whole shower/shave/brush teeth/put on clothes/have breakfast routine takes ages and has no possibility of something interesting happening (only possible surprises are of the 'I'm out of toothpaste/shaving foam/milk' kind).

The worst part of the morning is the fear of these horrible surprises which cause my sleep-addled brain stress and make me late. If I could glide through the morning like an automaton it'd be so much better.

Actually, no, the worst part is the bathroom being FUCKING FREEZING every morning because I can't figure out how to set the timer on the central heating.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

argh, the water/heating timer. i'm ready to take a hammer to that thing. it never works right!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm glad you're enjoying life here ;)

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

My heating/water timer is just a MESS - thyere is no obvious way to make it work. I'm reduced to setting my alarm for half an hour before I have to wake up, scurrying to the kitchen to manually turn it on, then diving back into bed for half an hour just so I don't feel like an icicle when I go into the bathroom.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I currently have no bathroom ceiling, so I can hear my upstairs neighbour taking a slash.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i have to do the same thing, alex. perhaps we have the same kind of boiler? i promise that if i ever figure it out, i'll post my findings immediately.

xpost - ew. my sympathies, m.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd been suspecting that it was me being utterly useless with technology once again - it is heartening to realise that it's not just me, and that maybe it is the boiler which is to blame.

I ALWAYS run out of milk on the mornings when I have the least time available, too. Aaargh.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Having to WASH. It's so BORING.

Starry (hello chickens), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate my snarling morning face in the mirror. Fortunately now I have Rob to make me a cup of tea while I'm having a shower.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

That it doesn't come sooner.

peepee (peepee), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i will never enjoy mornings if bed and i are forcibly parted.

i'm with lauren on this one.

not literally, of course.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)
