the same thing w. ms love. i dont think she was treated well, by her bankers and her managers and esp. her record companies.
we need to work harder at noticing whats real, and what isnt, instead of dismissing it all under the rubrick of mental illness.

Quite by chance I read Bobby Fischer Goes to War, the recent book about the 72 championship -- very fine read and it provides the history needed as to why Fischer is such a weirdly fascinating character.
i'm reading this now, and also picked it up completely by chance (crashed at a friend's house, picked up a random book to read while falling asleep and got totally caught up in it).
also by chance, i saw both Pumping Iron and Inside Deep Throat over the weekend, i think the universe is trying to tell me something about the early '70s.

I read this many years ago - if you're fascinated by the Fischer mythology, it's an insider's view, and very well written.

yeah, i love that book. brad darrach himself must have been kind of a genius, in his way. nothing else i've read about fischer even compares to it, and he doesn't even indulge in any of the bedside-psychologist stuff that you're almost obliged to do when writing about the guy. somehow just describing him is enough. plus, it's hilarious.
