Have you got any?

(What about Life Stamima and Life Luck?)

Tom, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What are they? I think I'm good at reading people. I'd hope that I always have my wits about me. I'm resiliant. I think I am a man of plans and calculations.

james, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Or 'Life Attack Strength', Tom? ;-)
I have none. No commonsense whatsoever. I can't drive, have no professional qualifications, I cannot 'network', the only thing I can do is talk about films and books.

detect undead?

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't drive either but have amazing walking stamina when drunk#Jackie Chan>>I cannot play chess but I have an uneducated opinion on almost everything I've never heard of>>>>AC6 HC2>>>bad judge of character>>>babe magnet>>>modest

Detect undead is mnerely a matter of spotting the stinky kid.

Pete, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That would end most D&D games pretty quick, Pete.

are life skills the types of things that get you hired? sigh.

maura, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maura, how bad is your life? You seem to radiate gloom.

Nick, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

aw, now i feel bad. i'm not like this all the time. most things that don't have to do with my job/where i live are pretty ok. i mean, i'm being roasted by friends of mine early next year, and that's something to be excited about, right? heh heh.

basically i am in a bit of a panic right now because of this r_______n and people all around me losing their jobs for various reasons and the same 'global problems' that shut down a business down the block from me temprarily. also over the past two days i have been stricken with ailments that all but knocked me out. but a lot of the time i can be fun, the life of the party, even (especially when i throw one, and you (and you and you too) are totally invited to my next one)! honest!

...and now i am starting to feel like this is sounding not unlike a personal ad.

but thank you for your concern. for real.

maura, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm great at figuring out what people want to hear and then telling them it. this is useful at work - not in an ambitious way, but to get them off my back and continue to have an easy life. The problem is that I sometimes despise myself for not being more honest. But at work I've found honesty = hassle.

I can drink lots. This is a good life skill, but when drinking with work people (rare) it can work in opposition to above - they get to know what I really think. Then - above skill comes in useful for knowing how to wriggle out of the dire situation the next day.

My best life skill is eternal optimism and the ability to put negative thoughts, bad stuff that happens etc in its place, not dwell on it and not get bogged down by it.

Maura isn't really a gloomstress, she just worries about her job a lot. Get her talking about the Powerpuff Girls or obscure Philly indie chancers and she's a ray of sunshine!

(Oh and she's a goth too so she has to seem gloomy or they'll expel her.)

Tom, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ooo tom you are so ded, i will paint you with white makeup and lipstick that is as black as your soul!

uh anyway. oh! my #1 life skill is definitely for sure bringing together people who should know each other for whatever reason, whether it's romantic chemistry potential or writers who need editing mentors or just pals in the same city who might like to see a different face at their local bar from time to time. if you're moving to a new city and in need of a friendly face, ask me! i can probably hook you up, esp if you live in chicago or new york.

maura, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was just that and and the sharp comment about twee indieboys walking all over one's heart. Glad things aren't irredeemably bad.

Nick, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am good at spinning bull shit, and I can be charming believe it or not. i can be funny if I want to be but it takes me an effort to get along with quite a lot of people. Though I am not a good actress I think i can make it look like I really am interested. My method of dealing with negativity from people is to rationalise it and and disassociate myself from it. I don't trust people so I am not disappointed in them. On the down side, I dont really have anything intellectual or interesting to say, my disassociation from people makes me feel isolated. I'm a whinging depressed person and I can't even drive to the dairy to get me some lollies. sigh. woe is mene! :)

I'm a complete putz at basic bits of social interaction -- meaning that I don't "read" people well to at all, half the time. Hence I interrupt too often & can blow a gasket quick in an argument.

Sterling Clover, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There's nothing in that damn chart about collecting good music, eating good food and other real pleasures. To hell with it!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
