i'm running around doing loads of random stuff today, and one of the projects is trying to find a little blurb for the back of a leaflet i'm designing that says something like 'this information is available in other formats' in several community languages (we're in islington, if that helps)

i've spoken to the council's translation services and they were, unsurprisingly, not very helpful, and said it would take several weeks and lots of money to get this.

does anyone have this info to hand or any information on where i should look?

p.s. the faster i finish this, the earlier i can go home to change and drink and get to club FT! woo! thanks!

We use these people, and they are very good:

Do you have contacts for various ethnic community groups in the area? Like Cypriot/whatever Centres, social clubs etc? They may be able to help you with individual languages. Otherwise it's going to be an expensive outsourcing jobbie, I suspect.

Or Jerry's link, as he does this stuff properly!

I'm a Dutch-English translator. Generally translation services cost ten to twenty cents a word (EUR) depending on how exotic the language is. If you want freelancers to bid on the job, you can go to http://www.proz.com

If it's truly only a few words that you need translated, you can use the "kudoz" feature at www.proz.com and have translators suggest translations for freeeeee.

"proz.com"? It's a trap!

A sexy trap.
