A companion piece to 'can you swim?'

I cannot ride a bike.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm beginning to think that ILx is populated by feebs.

The Dreaded Rear Admiral (Leee), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride a bike.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I can as well.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I have never sat on a bike in my entire life.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride with no-handed. I bet you are all very impressed, you feebs.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I always hit the ground rather hard. So indeed, the answer for me is no.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

with no handed what? I'd have been impressed had you said 'with no hands' however.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I can, but I haven't owned one since 6th grade. I've been living in very hilly towns.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a guy at college who'd ride a unicycle to class everyday. There's A LOT of foot traffic around the quad (I've seen bicyclists SMASH into pedestrians), and riding a unicylce is not the smoothest of motions, ie it's herky-jerky. People would have to stay 10 feet away from him at all times. What a tool. Why not just wear a big flashing sign that said "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT ME!!!!"

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Bikes are for vegetarians and homosexuals, though.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

And students.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

A few years ago, I tried to ride a bike for the first time in ... um ... about a decade or so. I soon found that I'd forgotten how to go round corners.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i am a vegetarian.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

A vegetarian Australian? pull the other one.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i am a vagetarian ahahahahahahahaaha. *sigh*

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

No. And when I tried to teach myself, I broke both my wrists. Just this week, i started to physical therapize the left wrist that never set 100% of the way or regained its full range of motion. This is probably a bad idea.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Whenever I tried to learn I fell over, so I went back inside to watch Star Wars or something. This has become a pretty familiar pattern in my life.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't either. I fell off and injured an ankle and a tooth when I tried to learn and was afraid to ever after. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not riding a bike. Shutupshutupshutup.

mouse (mouse), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, but my bike needs new gears and shit so i haven't in a while

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I can pop wheelies.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Can you do an endo?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought one smoked on endo.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

is that the thing where you pop a front wheelie and then the back wheel too? i can't do that.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a guy at college who'd ride a unicycle to class everyday.

there's one of those at every college, it seems. "wackiness" like that makes me want to kill myself.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I once rode straight into a parked car.

The Dreaded Rear Admiral (Leee), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I can do an endo.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the first time i went out on my two-wheeler (age six or so), i dented our neighbor's le car.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ummmm...I ride this to work every day now.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

HIPSTER.

The Dreaded Rear Admiral (Leee), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

if you can do an endo without a front brake, i doff my cap to you, sir.

No, Wooden, that's indo, as in indoor, as in weed that's grown indoors.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

HIPSTER.

You can try it this weekend!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

It...ate my pants yesterday.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

In a coffee shop.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

...the shame of it...

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Oops. My, all these rapping fellows have such thick accents.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

motor scooters are dorkster, not hipster.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

do you wear a helmet?

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. And gloves with flames on them!!!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The Dreaded Rear Admiral (Leee), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

don't ride it near my car or I'll hit you

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

okay.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh get a room you two

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

We have one. It's called "Jupiter".

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

they really should have better music there. "Combine Old School booty-shaking funk grooves with 21st century sonic swirls of acid jazz, taking the fine art of high-energy, stinky-face grooving to a new level"

No.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 29 July 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider!!! BURRRRN!

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 July 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF the weed is "endo" too! "Indo" is clearly wrong wrong and EVIL.

Dan I., Thursday, 29 July 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

People who ride motorised scooters/pushbikes will be the first up against the wall when TrayceRevolution™ comes. I hate the whiny, mosquito noise their little 2 stroke engines make... and there are TWO people in my street who ride said contraptions. Up, and down... whhhheeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeehhhhhhhhh.....

Er, anyway. Yes, I can ride a bike. Had one all my teenage years that I rode down t'pool and stuff. Left it behind in a share house by accident at 21, never seen it, nor ridden one, since then. I wonder if I still know how?

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 July 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Australian Vegetarians reprazent.

I ride my bike often, in good weather.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 30 July 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

tell us more about the TrayceRevolution™

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 30 July 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it involve taking things to the max?

Where does the term "endo" come from then? I always thought it was "indo", short for "indoor".

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 July 2004 02:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Australian Vegetarians reprazent.

That's right -- I still remember that great place in St. Kilda, had a very fine dinner and chat there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 July 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I am very surprised that many of you can't ride bikes. Everyone I know back home rides a mountain bike of some sort. But us Canadians are a wacky bunch.

I once rode straight into a parked car.
Oh god I did this once. I was having some gear problems and I was riding down my street and looking back to watch the chain on the gear discs to see what the deal was and.. BLAM! I went right over the handlebars and landed spread-eagled on the hood of someone's parked car. Must have looked pretty spectacular, I imagine.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 July 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride a bike but the last bike I owned was the Grifter I had when I was about 10.

robster (robster), Friday, 30 July 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I can and did a lot as a kid but I don't now. I'm kind of scared of cycling in Manchester. Last time I was on a bike was a high speed and hugely drunken backy across Lulea. It was ace.

Tag (Tag), Friday, 30 July 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Endo = end up or end-over-end if you fuck up.

Yeah, I'm also surprised so many of you can't ride bikes, it's so easy. I'm learning to ride motorcycles this month (with no learner's permit or helmet, strictly backalley) and it's sketchy as fuck though I haven't fallen yet. My friend, learning with me, fell while wearing shorts and sandals and I couldn't believe how pink his calf flesh was, yummm.

LC, Friday, 30 July 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride a bike, but I haven't done so for a few years. The worst mistake I made was trying to ride my gleaming white racer down some steps in the park. Buckled wheel, buckled fork, buckled face.

My parents found an ancient Solex in their barn in France. It might be fun if it wasn't a total rustbucket.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 30 July 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sym if you read this we're doing it in the alley behind 5th and Cypress (parallel to 5th). Call me if you want to learn! It's so IRRESPONSIBLE!

LC, Friday, 30 July 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Bikes are cool, and I want to get a Surley Crosscheck with a set of fat rims I can slap on for light off-road fun.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 30 July 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride either an upright bike or a recumbent. I can't ride a unicycle.

Obv, I spend more time fixing the bloody things than I do riding them, gah.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Seeing my friend smash into a parked car while bicycling (he was looking down at his pedals for some reason) was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.

This is completely off-topic, but THE funniest thing I've ever seen was when my roommate in college had just come into our dorm room after taking a shower. I forget the logistics of it, but for some reason he wrapped a sheet around himself in order to go retrieve something he forgot in the bathroom. Apparently he didn't have much experience with wearing bedsheets. He put it on in the tiny closet, stepped out and apeared to be adequately covered. Then he turned around and, unbeknownst to NONE of his backside was covered! His girlfriend and I laughed our asses off, unable to even tell him why we were laughing.

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I lost my right eyebrow riding a bike no hands through my old street. ow.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I can ride a bike. For a couple years in college I used to commute to school on a bike because I was too cheap to buy a parking permit. Longest bike trip I've ever taken was from OC down to Carlsbad and back.

My brother was more of a bike maniac - he biked across Canada from Vancouver to Montreal

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What's a guy who doesn't know what the current in thing is and randomly calls people hipsters?

A dipster.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I once rode a battery-powered bike down the halls of the World Bank, to demonstrate it for the benefit of a group of transport experts.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Indo = slang for indica duder.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah and I ride bike. I haven't nearly as passionately as I used to though since that time when I was still in college when I got hit by cars four times in one semester.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah that makes sense. I was thinking about the line in Friday: "Indo?? Smells more like outdo'"

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Bikes are for vegetarians and homosexuals, though.

Speedy (Speedy Gonzalas), Friday, 30 July 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

The car I hit was on my neighborhood street. I was riding straight at the cars parked on the curb. With my eyes closed. To see if I could open them just before hitting them. I got the idea from watching Muppet Babies.

gbx, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 03:50 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, I can ride a bike, but I'm going to drive my car over it if I don't find out what this fucking clicking noise is in my derailleur and how I can regulate the bloody thing so it doesn't lose grip every time I try to start moving.

StanM, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 18:44 (seventeen years ago)

internetz rule! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkGBajG4TPc :-)

derailleur = that complicated thing in the back that regulates on what round thing the long black oily thing goes when you change the front thing with the numbers

Oooooooooooooooooooooooh that. (?!?)

Can not drive a car.
