Have you taken part in any competitions of any kind where you feel the result may have been (or definitely was) fixed?

the title of this thread immediately made me think of that petshop boys song "it's a sin". rigged!

gem (trisk), Friday, 30 July 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha Ally C and his pub quiz bitterness to thread

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 30 July 2004 07:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeh, that dodgy pub quiz you and I were in a fortnight ago. How we managed to not win that I don't know.

By the way MarkH, you up for the music quiz this Sunday? It is this Sunday, isn't it?

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 30 July 2004 07:37 (twenty-one years ago)

When I was working at 19, a few of us went to the launch of a kareoke (sic?) console game. Free drinks! (Hurrah!) Matt Lucas as Vicky Pollard (Hurrah!) and ... an inter-magazine singing competition (oh bugger).

Funnyly enough, Smash Hits and Elle Girl won, leading to many accusations of 'circulationism' from the drunk and the bitter.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Monday it is then. Oh, it'll be sooo much fun!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

at primary school raffles, the secretary, Mrs Pige0n, always won a prize.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm always suspicious of raffles where you don't get to see the draw, you ask in the pub afterwards and it's "Oh, yeah, urm, thingy won it, you know, my best mate."

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I won a Shaking Stevens Dance-alike competition in 1982 at school. It must have been rigged, cos I was k-rub.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry Dave, did you just admit that?

Anna (Anna), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

cos I was k-rub

i think this is why you won

My tactic for TB4 is to earn sympathy by telling true tales dripping with pathos.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I won a Shaking Stevens Dance-alike competition
Ahem, it's Shakin Stevens Ahem.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I know. Feel the pathos!

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 30 July 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think certain people formerly of Sinist*r have a confession to make.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

shhh Pete Waterman may be reading

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

that wasn't a fix, it was people using their noggins

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I was competing in the Karaoke final at my local the other week. The prize was three hundred pounds. All my friends said I was the best. They gave it to some two hundred year old man singing 'My Way'. I am still BITTER.
