Where's Dizzy gone? It's almost the end of the week and we haven't made the things that crawl upon the earth yet!

The construction workers' union is gonna be pissed when they see that shirt!

Huck, Saturday, 31 July 2004 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Man is always taking the credit for their large scale construction work.

THey won't let God build anything else, unless there are three other gods with him at all times, they don't have to do anything, they just have to be there and get paid.

They also serve, who stand around and smoke.

The "Armed and Dangerous" and "Heavy Drinker" ones are stupid, but I see how they're meant. How else can one interpret the "Brain Washed" one? I think it would make a good gift for Christian friends though; they wouldn't know what to make of it (is the passage below it "John 12:2"? I can't read the first part).

Dan I., Saturday, 31 July 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

oh,it says it's Romans 12:2 - "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind". I don't think it really fits the passage, but it's still funny.

Dan I., Saturday, 31 July 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan's picked out three really crazy ones up there. What's with 'Brainwashed'? (heh x-post)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 31 July 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Did they really need to subvert "Homeland Security" and "Army of One"?

Huck, Saturday, 31 July 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like the Echo Christ shirt and all that other WWJD paraphernalia

Christ is fully man and fully God. Man is only fully man and considering what Jesus would do in a situation to try and echo him seems faulty. I mean he performed miracles. If my friend Lazarus dies, do I think to myself "hmmm, what would jesus do?" then go try and raise Lazarus from the dead? No.

The verse they use for the Echo Christ shirt says to imitate him in his walk of love. People take it out of context when the extend that to imitating his actions.

In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul says "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ"

There should be Echo Paul and WWPD shirts. That be much cooler! (well no more cool, but more doctrinely sound.)

As for the actually principle of wearing this type of clothing and displaying these types of clever messages in the way they are displayed as imitations or mockings of other current somewhat popular logos and designs, I could rant for a while on some problems behind that. Much would be on taking singular verses out of the context that they have in the books they are in. And too on it being like the hypocrites who go out in the streets to be seen by others. Well, in Matthew, Jesus does say to be the light of the world, but I don't think this garb is the kind of light.

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 1 August 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

oh sorry, I mean swag, not garb.

Font aside, it explains nothing. But it's on a t-shirt, so what do I expect. This is a deeply flawed idea (as if you don't all know this already) -- Jesus as T-Shirt is insulting to everyone involved, especially Jesus.
