Either Alan or Zac fucked up the server. Not that they should have known. There was a script on the old server redirecting to the new address, and one of them overwrote it whilst conducting some form of maintenance. An easy mistake to make.

Anyway, ILX has been down for like 8 hours and I'm terribly sorry. Had I been more communicative, not so busy playing Doom 3, and not so asleep it wouldn't have been such an extended outage.

Apologies everyone.

Bahahaha.

You're still one of the most diligent system admins I've ever come across [yes, that includes work].

It actually was never down! Just that ilxor.com didn't work.

Well, both the 'ilx.wh3rd.net' and 'ilxor.com' addresses didn't work. That's close enough to 'down'. Anyway, I hope some people were able to still use the site at its temporary 'p3r.net' address.

Oh yes, quite a few! Check the amount of posts made over the last eight hours, a good number of us were here.

Can we have the temp site back? I miss being Ernie.

it wasn't too hard to change the URL to "p3r"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 2 August 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, well it wasn't Zac. Unless he's developed the ability to code telepathically - I've been tying up the line all afternoon.

I don't mean to blame anyone. I suppose saying "Either Alan or Zac fucked up the server," is probably a bad way of not blaming anyone. :-) What I mean is somebody made a mistake and the redirect disappeared.

Dumb question time: who in hells bells is Zac???

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

shit it was me! BLAME ME. sorry about that

i didn't notice the redirect to the new address (nor the address in the URL of my browser!!!) and after fixing a problem thrown up by pashmina (see admin discussion) i did a rebuild which i guess overwrote the redirect.

bad alan

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

b-but the problem you found was my fault in the first place, so it's STILL MY FAULT

I'm Spartacus!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah been too busy playing CM03/04 in my downtime anyways. They lower my budget but I can still steer Tranmere to the Vans, scalp Everton, Leicester and West Brom in cups and erase their debt in two years. One of these days I'll figure out what I'm doing in that game enough to get promoted.
