not trying for overly organised fun, here, but wanted to let people know that a gang of us are going to hear basement jaxx on friday. please note that i didn't say *see*, because we didn't manage to get tickets. but those in the know tell me that because of the layout of somerset house, it's possible to hear the whole show from various locations including waterloo bridge (!)

so, if anyone is interested in meeting up and dancing on the bridge, please let me know. i'm guessing it's the same or similar set to those at glastonbury and roskilde, which magically turned me into a fan.

alternatively, if people have managed to get tickets to the show and want to FAP before or after, that would be cool as well...

bin liner skirts optional

sounds like a good plan.

it's possible to hear the whole show

Er...I think I said it may be possible. It might not though. In which case I was thinking we could just take some wine to a park or something instead. Or find a pub that's showing the big brother evictions. Or, you know, something.

namco station is 5 mins walk away ;)

well, if we take a box of wine, we can figure out if it'll work or not, and if not go play somewhere else, right?

actually, a box of wine might be the critical thing here. that was the common element of both roskilde and glastonbury. unless it was the mud. who's bringing the mud?

(xpost- namco station is 5 mins walk away ken, i kiss you!)

There is a big fuck-off building in the way after all - and I kinda think they wouldn't be allowed to host the concerts if noise pollution were such an issue.

xpost - yay Namco station! Still haven't played the game with the sword!

Dudes - no way I'm missing the last Big Brother!

Sarah without a reset code STILL hello what's THAT all about, Tuesday, 3 August 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

but the big building is office, not residental, so maybe noise pollution doesn't matter so much?

But leaking out onto the street I mean, I imagine The Man wouldn't be too happy with that.

A friend of mine works in Somerset House and has been around the area for most of the gigs there - I'll ask him about the logistics of the thing.

Oh, hello Tom :)

Yo Mat!!!

ledge (ledge), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

boys are weird. i've already planned on saying i'll go and then having to stay home to wash my hair or something at the last minute so that matt and jim can hook up, tom, you want in on that action as well, now?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Boys are weird? We're not the ones trying to organise gay dates between our straight other-sex friends!

ledge (ledge), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

matt and jim both already agreed, though...and i think they looked wistful when they agreed.

The word from the inside is that the gig will be "mildly audible" from the Terrace, which is the elevated platform overlooking the Embankment and the river. There is an expensive bar there.

Problem is, I imagine, that the speakers are facing in the other direction altogether therefore you'd actually HEAR the thing better raving it up outside the Royal Courts of Justice. Which would just be surreal.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd SO rave outside the RCoJ if I could.

i'm happy to wander around once they've started trying to find the best spot. it isn't that big. and where do they take tickets? can we just stand on the driveway or something?
