Last night I had a dream, which was that I was at a party, and one of the people there was Donald Sutherland. Thinking about it, it occurs to me that Donald Sutherland is in fact fucking great in many ways, almost too many ways to be counted. In abt 1hr, I am going to Newcastle, and I am going to buy a DVD of a film w/Donald Sutherland in it. What should I get? Poss I will get "the first great train robbery" cuz he rulz in it, but perhaps something else. Do you have any suggestions? What's to be avoided, I mean he's been in some stanky films, and even though he's usually entertaining in them, a crap film is still a crap film, & thus not worth spending yer £$£$£$ on. If you do not have something good to say about Donald Sutherland, then I don't want to hear it, H/-\T4.

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

You should really get Invasion Of The Body Snatchers because it looks so so beautiful on dvd. Don't Look Now looks really great too though. They would make a good double donald feature.

On the Oscars a couple years ago, he and somebody else served as in-house newscasters from a table just offstage or to the side. The entire time he had a smile on his face like he wasn't wearing any pants.

Search: Eye of the Needle

Pete Scholtes, Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

His 15 minute bit in JFK partially redeems a lot of the crap in that film.

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

he is very sexy

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Pantsless: Animal House.
Pants on: The Bedford Incident, with DS great in a small role alongside Wally Cox as the brain trust to commie-haunted submarine captain Richard Widmark. Poitier very cool in this one, too.

briania (briania), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

He is, actually, pretty fucking sexy, yes, I agree.

I bought a fancy 2dvd edition of "M*A*S*H", anyway. they had it on a 2-for the price of one offer w/a bunch of other titles, so I got "Gosford Park". Viva Altman!!

I'll look out for "eye of the needle" next week.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Destroy: 1900, with Sutherland as an Italian fascist.

4 hours long, 5 hours in some cuts, one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Without question, the best role Donald Sutherland has been in is the tank driver in Kelly's Heroes. He stars opposite Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas and even Don Rickles. This is an awesome fucking war movie because it's fucking ridiculous. A very american film. Ch Ch Ch Ch check it out.
