.........knowing that in a few hours you will have to be Very Coherent to function in the outside world.
classic, if you have company, don't mind being vague and spacey for the day - to hell with coherent for proprieties sake, and can have a sleep around noon.

I got four hours sleep last night. This is me right now. Except I can't just have a sleep till noon. I have to function at work for eight hours, then I have to go to band practice, and then tomorrow I have to get my heart back from someone who's been using it as a doorstop, chop it into tiny pieces, swallow it, and hope it somehow ends up back in my chest.

That feeling from my perspective is an awful one, viz. 4:48 am and you're in an empty bed and it doesn't matter how many people read your writing it still doesn't fill the vast, desolate gap. And the worst of it is knowing that you've brought it upon yourself entirely.

The only think stopping me sleeping lately is my bad back.

I seem to be doing this at the moment, although I am not really suffering throughout the day as such. The other night I just watched every single hour pass by. Dozing in between though I guess as I didn't feel like too much of a zombie the next day!

i wish i can go to work whenever i like - like my body clock works kind of on a 30 hour day and so it doesn't quite sync up with the real world - i'd happily work the same amount of hours or even more provided that i can go in sometimes like at midnight to finish off any work that needs doing.

This happened to me last night, probably due to the nap I took yesterday. I phoned a friend, I drank camomile tea, I tried making lists, nothing helped. Light started changing, morning planes started landing and foxes started mating before I was able to fall asleep, sometime after 5. I woke up at 8:30 and am still wide awake.

How about that heady feeling a little after 7am when you write without even being able to really read the letters on the screen? asdf;lkja;lsfdkj;algj;ljkj;.............
