"Well and Good"

When someone says, "That's all well and good, but... " does it ever mean that anything is well or good?

Please replace with "That's irrelevant bullshit, and..."

And what's with the adverb/adjective combination? "That's all wonderfully and super, but..."

... no, YOU'RE fattest.

It's a silly phrase but it was a boon to pun-inclined headline writers during the George Orwell centenary year...

Infinitely worse is: "I for one..." WELL WHO ELSE WOULD YOU BE SPEAKING/OPINING FOR UNLESS YOU WERE A SCHIZOPHRENIC? "I for two; myself and my big rabbit friend Harvey here..."?

If a magazine had a feature on a former "To The Manor Born" and "The Good Life" actress forcing people to move along by harassing them *and* an article about the aforementioned writer, they could advertise the fact on the cover by saying

Keith Harries and Orwell.

it does mean it's all well and good, it means "be that as it may". yes it sort of means that's irrelevant but not incorrect.

i always thought "for one" here means "as one example of the many who share the opinion"

and "that's well and good" is sometimes used as in "that's all well and good for the purpose of something but in this situation it's bullshit" ??
