Which of these movies should I see?

Over the next three days I'm going to two movies with two sets of pals. I don't go to the movies much. I saw Spiderman 2 recently because our car broke down in Ohio and it was $2 (and still wasn't worth it).

I want to see Napoleon Dynamite, The Village, Catwoman, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and Some Kind of Monster. Help me decide which of these I will force upon my immediate crew. I'm aware of the reviews for Catwoman and The Village (i also know the ending because I can't resist reading spoilers), but don't care.

Harold and Kumar, dude.

yeah, it looks great - but is it Half Baked great, or merely Old School great?

Napoleon Dynamite is shit, The Village is (well-made) shit, Catwoman is shit. I'd say go for Some Kind of Monster or Harold and Kumar (good shit, man!). There's the new Michael Mann movie, too ...

RIDING GIANTS

gygax! (gygax!), Saturday, 7 August 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

we saw The Manchurian Candidate. It was ok - inconsistent but creepy / entertaining enough - well written despite plot holes

seeing harold and kumar tomorrow

really wanna see Some Kind of Monster. It's not playing where I live so it's gonna require a special trip to the city.

i bought a bootleg Catwoman DVD because tonight we're entertaining friends that we don't like to talk to much, so we're gonna get destroyed on cheap beers and get all fetish-a-go-go

is it as bad as I've unanimously heard?

here's what's playing at my nearest theater, POO for me to see this weekend:
Collateral
The Bourne Supremacy
The Village

the village!

I take that exclamation mark back.

Rog: You should see the new Metallica documentary. Total unintentional hilarity.

Alien vs. Predator, the new Batman movie, A Cinderella Story, and Garden State are what I want to see!

I really was unimpressed by the Bourne identity and some people have said the new one is worse or equal, so I don't want to see that.

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 8 August 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

And when is the new Star Wars movie coming out?

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 8 August 2004 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

2005. Seriously

Open Water looks ok

I really enjoyed Bourne Identity, and found Supremacy to be equally disarming(no cgi! nothing superhuman! bourne gets hit, and he limps!). My only complaint was the crazy wobbly camera work, which was compounded by having a seat near the front of the theater. Sit at the back, and you'll have a fine time.

I liked that effect. You couldn't tell what the hell was going on in the hand-to-hand stuff, which increased the intensity of it. You just see a quick flash and it's like, "Oh shit, he's got a big-ass knife!" I can understand how it might make some people seasick, though.

Catwoman was AWFUL.

Halle Berry is hot stuff though

four months pass...
Should I go see Million Dollar Baby tonight?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 21:23 (twenty years ago)

Or go home and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 2 that's already a day late at the video store?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 21:26 (twenty years ago)

CYE

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Ah, too late. I saw MDB and it was quite good.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 17:10 (twenty years ago)

Going to watch The Day After Tomorrow - can't find a thread on it. Any good?

Rumpy Pumpkin, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 17:15 (twenty years ago)

Uh, no.
