MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An openly racist candidate is the winner in a Tennessee congressional primary.
James Hart, a believer in the discredited, phony science of eugenics, has handily defeated write-in opponent Dennis Bertrand in the Republican primary for the Eighth Congressional District.
Most of the votes have been counted and Hart has a big lead.
The 60-year-old doesn't expect to defeat Democratic Rep. John Tanner, who's represented the district for 15 years. But he says he wants to get out his message -- that people from what he calls "less favored races" should be discouraged from reproducing or immigrating to the United States.
His explanation of "less favored races" includes people on welfare and those from "sub-Saharan" African countries.
Hart says the Republican Party would like him to go away -- but he'll probably go to the GOP convention.

Do you know what "eugenics" means?

not much ambiguity here, though.

No, not inherently, but racism follows close behind. First you're castrating hillbillies (America really did this, BTW, in the 40's an 50's, against their will), and sure, they're white. But if you start trying to selective breed based on who is most capable and financially able to take care of their children, the south side of Chicago suddenly becomes a killing field (or at least a castration field). And it's hard to argue that's not racist.

Sure, we gave Saddam weapons. Sure, we supported terrorism abroad for decades. Sure, we claim Henry Kissinger as a citizen. Fuck all that. We gave Hitler all his most popular ideas.

I missed the "unchallenged no less" part the first time, but it doesn't clear anything up. So you do think eugenics is racist and classist, but you are unsure about ILX's quickness to call it such? And you think I'm being arrogant somehow by outlining the problem with eugenics?
I think you may be acting like an ass.

Mr Hart has been said to turn up at voters' homes wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a gun, telling them that "white children deserve the same rights as everyone else".

OTM.
That book "War Against the Weak" that Harold Media linked to is excellent, I bought it from my mom's bookstore several months ago.

Detroit is a mess, no doubt...not sure, even given the music, I'd want an America like one big Detroit. Which isn't an imminent danger anyway. Memphis loves its "eccentrics."

ah, also: the problem is that the definition of "unfit to live" might suddenly change while the purge is going on. First the so-called "cleansers" get rid of the "obvious losers and wastes of vital resources" and then they suddenly add "suspected losers and wastes of vital resources"; and then they start weeding within their own ranks. Eventually, everybody is fair game in the Coming Cull.Like my uncle would've said "hey...if the bad buys can do it to a Jew, they can just as easy do it to you."and so forth.
