NILBOG IS GOBLIN SPELLED BACKWARDS

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously has anyone here seen this? It's a really, reaalllly bad movie, but it's bad in such a surreal way that it's genuinely creepy.

It's almost a latter-day direct-to-video Manos: The Hands of Fate.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i can see it now: Troll 2: the return of C-man

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

heh, well i'm sure he's seen this movie.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 9 August 2004 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure a thread on this film already exists somewhere..

Krankenhaus, Monday, 9 August 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, i started one on the noise board but it was more of a throwaway joke.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 9 August 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

It was the word NILBOG that did it
You don't forget a word like that

Take it to I Love Film....only kidding;- )

Krankenhaus, Monday, 9 August 2004 05:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't seen it -- my life suddenly seems empty and meaningless.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Monday, 9 August 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seen it, it is directed by crap-meister Joe D'Amato and sucks ass. I saw it some time ago though. D'Amato never made a good film (the closest might be "Eleven Days, Eleven Nights" 1 and 2 as they feature the gorgeous Jessica Moore, still one of my top ten ladies of all time) and also made such video nasties as "Absurd" and "The Anthropopagous Beast".

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't seen it, but I have it on DVD! It was a double pack with the first Troll (wasn't Julia Louis-Dreyfus in that?).

J-Troll, Monday, 9 August 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i think she is. i saw the original troll a long, long time ago so i don't really remember. plotwise troll 2 doesn't have much to do with the original. it's a horrible, horrible movie but it's so bad it's kind of fucked up. at some points it feels like a movie made by aliens imitating human horror movies.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

four years pass...

Holy shit, this movie is amazing/terrible.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 30 March 2009 07:31 (seventeen years ago)

lol @ the pop/corn lovemaking scene

steve "no neck" yamaguchi (vermonter), Monday, 30 March 2009 07:45 (seventeen years ago)

This was pretty much the funniest bad movie I've ever seen, alongside Inframan. Much better than Plan 9 From Outer Space, which is often just boring. So many great scenes, besides the popcorn one my favourite was "You don't piss on hospitality!", and basically any scene involving the wicked witch. I don't think I've ever seen anyone over-act so much in a movie, whoever played her should get a prize or something.

I think one of the silliest things about Troll 2 was the weird anti-vegetarian vibe permeating it. The goblins are veggie cannibals who eat humans only after they've turned them into plants, and in the finale the kid defeats the goblins by threatening them with a sausage! I didn't expect that.

Tuomas, Monday, 30 March 2009 08:28 (seventeen years ago)

Also, you gotta love a movie called "Troll 2" that doesn't have anything to do with the first Troll movie, and in fact doesn't have any trolls in it at all.

Tuomas, Monday, 30 March 2009 08:30 (seventeen years ago)

I saw this when I was like thirteen or fourteen. It was on Cable one late night. Totally ridiculous flick.

Mordy, Monday, 30 March 2009 09:43 (seventeen years ago)

Just to be clear - this isn't directed by the late, great Joe D'Amato is it? According to imdb it's one Claudio Fragasso, the genius behind Zombie Creeping Flesh and Zombie Flesh Eaters 2 (and, for the record, 3).

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Monday, 30 March 2009 12:30 (seventeen years ago)

I thought the first Troll was awesome, but everyone raves bout this one. Still need to check Lawnmower Man 2 off my list, too. I gotta quit dreamin and get to livin.

This is going on our house Fatso Queue Recommendation List in capital letters.

invitation to rabies (╓abies), Monday, 30 March 2009 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

it's hard to pick a favorite part of this movie, but i still like the opening sequence with the girl who has freckles that are obviously eyebrow pencil and the weird super fake fairy tale vibe.

i think a logical pairing of this movie (aside from the original troll) would be "the gnomemobile", which was a live-action disney film about a dire shortage of gnome women. also it is a musical.

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Monday, 30 March 2009 13:27 (seventeen years ago)

i saw first saw this a few years ago without any idea of what i was in for. my ex-girlfriend is a sincere fan of troll 1, and we got that dvd twofer that has them both. it's so terrible, yet in a really watchable and non-boring way.

that looks pretty excellent! hope some smart company buys the troll 2 rights and releases 'em in some sort of grindhouse-style doublepack

queen of the rapping scene (acoleuthic), Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:51 (sixteen years ago)

Oh shit is that the Troll 2 documentary? My friend has been raaaaaaaaaving about this for ages since she saw it in Philly (I think?) last year.

This object perpetually attempts to sell itself on eBay. (Stevie D), Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:58 (sixteen years ago)

acoulethic I take it you have not seen Troll 2

even the normally conscience-free moguls who release DVDs have their standards & IIRC the standard in question is called "The Troll 2 Demarcation"

queen of the rapping scene (acoleuthic), Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:59 (sixteen years ago)

I watched Troll 2 with a friend who is not accustomed to watching very very bad movies and he was blown away by how bad it was.

I was like "eh I've seen worse"

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Thursday, 4 March 2010 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

seriously, i've said it before and will say it again, but on every conceivable level i cannot imagine a worse movie than 'the hottie and the nottie'

queen of the rapping scene (acoleuthic), Thursday, 4 March 2010 01:01 (sixteen years ago)

Haven't seen that, but I imagine that it has things like "scenes" and something like a "plot" and maybe "dialogue", which would put it a level up from something like "Werewolves on Wheels", for example.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Thursday, 4 March 2010 01:03 (sixteen years ago)

it has those things, but in the worst possible way. sometimes a little knowledge is far, far worse than no knowledge at all

Troll 1 is genuinely enjoyable IMO. Love all the rubbery miserable-looking half-born creatures and the Omen-ripoff choral score by Richard Band.

Like many, I only saw Troll 2 because of the 2-fer DVD. The hilarious bits make it worth sitting through, but one should not overlook how deadly boring it is for long stretches. Sex scene in the mobile home is some next-level shit.

My personal go-to when I'm in the mood for a glorious failure is The Yin And The Yang Of Mr. Go.

I don't think so, Troll 2 is definitely the one with the ridiculous mobile home sex scene.

oh wait, i was mixing up troll 1 and troll 2.

Saw BEST WORST MOVIE/TROLL 2 double feature last night in Chicago. Even though I've seen Troll 2 multiple times and have the DVD, it was almost better after seeing BWM. Most illuminating were the parts with Claudio, the director and the Italian lady who wrote the movie. They were surprisingly committed to the idea that this was a good movie about evil vegetarians.

Anyone else seen BWM? I regret not painting freckles on for the screening. Next time. Also: Met George Hardy and he complimented my dress.

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 31 July 2010 13:34 (fifteen years ago)

Oh! And I got George Hardy to sign my TROLL 2 VHS too.

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 31 July 2010 13:38 (fifteen years ago)

I decided that my favorite part/recurring theme is Grandpa Seth and his floating head.

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 31 July 2010 13:47 (fifteen years ago)

BWM is pretty fun but i'd preferred to see more of the director and the story behind the film and less movie geeks talking about how cool it is

titchyschneiderhouserules (s1ocki), Saturday, 31 July 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

agreed -- that was the part i could have lived without -- the various troll 2 parties, etc. i think they wanted to play up the rabid fanbase angle more than they wanted to talk about the actual movie. i still enjoyed it though.

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 31 July 2010 15:30 (fifteen years ago)

It's awesome Michael Stephenson is trying to cash in on the cult hit he was in but I'm not sure it would be necessary to see the 'rabid fanbase', and certainly no more than simply watching Troll 2 again or especially showing it to a friend who's never seen it. I've met very few people who have seen Troll 2 and I'm not sure the best introduction to the film is something called "Best Worst Movie" with shots of people laughing at it and describing the worst scenes. Kinda takes the fun out of personally discovering just how bad this movie is.

The corncob sex scene is rad. I made a youtube video with clips from the TV bit he's watching before it starts....

BWM is certainly not the best introduction to the movie, but it's enjoyable if you have already seen T2 a bunch of times

Just watched BWM. Pretty cool. I like how everyone is obviously pretty nutty, sort of reminds me of that Twin Peaks documentary on the DVD box set in that regard. I really enjoyed the General Store owner who was actually insane during the making of the movie. I really want to read more of his writings. Wow!

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 14 November 2010 23:03 (fifteen years ago)

Love when he is showing his large stuffed animals and says "These are my people. If they were to run for office I'd vote for them."

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 14 November 2010 23:10 (fifteen years ago)

My local theater screened BWM and a 35mm print of Troll 2 as a double bill, and George Hardy came in person! He is a real genuine dude, very sweet and friendly, took lots of Q&A, hung out with film-goers and signed anything. He had actually flown up from Alabama to Ottawa (Canada) the day of the screening, such was his....enthusiasm? devotion? to the cult following. An excuse to take a break from dentistry I suppose.

Troll 2 is maybe the funniest terrible movie ive ever seen, to the point where it is kinda un-MST3Kable, its sorta humor self sufficient. BWM doc was also a ton of fun, but def dont watch it until after you see T2. Extras are mostly A#1 as well, esp the stuff w/the director and the dude who played the shopkeeper, who deserves a documentary of his own really.
