No. Bagels are mad. Apparently you BOIL AND BAKE the bread, possibly not in that order. It sounds MENTAL. Who boils bread? I mean, are they insane? Ludacris!!

And as for ranch dressing well I don't even know what that is and neither do I want to. No offence Will, but I SHUN YOUR MEAL CHOICE!

I used to make bagels when I lived in Holland and missed them. I don't have a recipe handy for the dough, but I'm sure you could Google and find one. The secret to good bagels is to boil them in water that you've previously boiled potatoes in. That bit of starch somehow gives the bagel the skin you want. When you roll them out into balls, poke your thumb through the middle to make the hole (rather than rolling it out and smushing the ends of the roll together). Kind of roll it on your thumb to seal the seam. I found it to be a 3- to 4-hour job, but worth it. I recommend brushing them with egg wash and sprinkling onion on before baking.
