I'm getting a bit bored of trying glasgow anymore, so i'm thinking of somewhere else to move in britain (not immediately or with any great conviction). so gimme your honest opinions....

Robbie, why not use the search function? There'll be a hell of a lot of threads there that will tell you what you need to know, I promise.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd advise against nottingham.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

why? it's all right.

I'll put in a good word for Bristol.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't have a good time there. thus, destroy. bristol's alright. i had fun in bristol.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

OSAMA BIN LADEN TO THREAD!

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Nottingham's one of the few places in Britain I'd consider relocating to, along with Leeds and Glasgow (maybe Edinburgh) and of course, the Essex countryside

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

have i been too hasty in my dismissal of nottingham? it's better than cardiff, i'll give it that.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Another vote for Bristol. It's great here.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

York?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

does it have to be britain? how about another country altogether? Canada (snow maidens, lotsa land, etc etc) or France (wine maidens, lotsa garlic etc etc)?

Anthony (Plato Guy), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

you should organise a Bristol FAP!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

How many Bristolians are there on here? (That said, we could possibly get some of the Cardiff lot to come over.) I'll think about this - I'd be tempted by a birthday FAP in a fortnight...

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Oxford -- all great places, or so I deem.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

According to nationmaster.com, there are 66 official UK cities. I've been to about 30 I think (though sometimes only to change trains or watch football). Glasgow is the best, but other ones I like are Oxford, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sheffield and Manchester.

Would you just up sticks and move to another city, Robbie, without any kind of safety net of going there to study or knowing people there already?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 9 August 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Destroy Gloucester

Please

Why do you care so much? he's asking a specific question. If the subject's been done to death then no-one will post to this thread and it will sink. plus it's about what some people may think now not about looking through the archives - that's quite a different thing. Its about interaction not reading a boring 200-post long thread about Nottingham.

...anyway, Edinburgh.

British Cities Search and Destroy

didn't the germans do this already har har

|a|m|t|r|s|t| (amateurist), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Sometimes I realise I have been to almost no British cities. For instance, I have no idea what Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and many other places are like. The only ones I really know are Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. I wouldn't move to either of the ones I don't live in, I think. So I'm no help. But good luck!
