The A Team VS The Dukes of Hazard

I ask because I'm going to christen our new crib with one of the DVD sets. I'm a fan of both shows (and will probably buy both eventually) - has anyone seen the DVDs? Even if you haven't - objectively, which was the better show? I haven't seen a lot of these episodes in years...

THE A TEAM

it's obvious isn't it?

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I never saw Dukes Of Hazard turn a decrepit ambulance into a nuclear tank using only spot-welding and some old oven gloves.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 06:39 (twenty-one years ago)

THEY WERE ANTI-HEROES

JAILED FOR A CRIME THEY DID NOT COMMIT

TDOK had shitty heroes. Who even remembers their names? (apart from Daisy)

But tho I haven't seen The A Team in years I'll never forget Hannibal, Face, Murdoch and B.A Baraccus.

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

(OK I did love TDOH as a kid. But I liked them all; Knight Rider, Airwolf, Magnum, The Fall Guy, whatever else I'm forgetting.

And now I think of it Boss Hog, Cletus and Enus were funny. And the car was cool to my younger self. Daisy's ass factors into this today of course. Still not as good though.)

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The A-Team definately. I bought an A-Team DVD the other day and it is really good am going to order a couple more when I get paid in a couiple of weeks

What about Manimal?

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 06:55 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god bumfluff your post just reminds me of all the DVD sets I want to buy.

To answer question, The A Team wins all the way, I can't why this is such a hard question?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 07:25 (twenty-one years ago)

"The A-Team" no question. Why watch TDOH when you can rent a copy of Thunder Road, anyway?

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The A-Team came through the Inevitably Not As Good As It Was When You Were Ten process remarkably well when I saw repeats a few years ago. Dukes of Hazzard was tres dire by comparison despite the hotpants.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a hot chick for Face virtually every week.
Also: too young to masturbate

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the A-Team movie still in development hell?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

let's hope so! i mean replacing david soul is one thing - bigfuckingdeal - but T? no way dude!

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

To be honest, I was always more worried about who they'd get to play Murdock, because they'd just end up with, you know, Seann William Scott or Lee Evans or someone.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

woah - good call on seann william scott

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hannibal - George Clooney

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

BA - Shawn Wayans

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

haha - face: brad pitt

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

We're so going to get googled in about four months time by apoplectic A-Team fanatics criticising this casting.

Anyway, BA has to be The Rock, I'm pretty sure that's a law.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

god i was just thinking 'they'll probably cast the rock showing they totally don't get that part'

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

No, "totally not getting the part" would involve casting Ving Rhames.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Will Ferrel would make an ideal Murdoch

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

That's probably the biggest 'well duhh' of all the time though, I acknowledge

Bumfluff, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

My parents banned me from watching both the A Team and the Dukes of Hazzard because they encourage bad driving and the belief that you can crash your car and walk out of it without a scratch. Apparently.

One day, our teacher told us to write an essay on Why I Love The A Team and I had to put my hand up in front of the whole class and say I wasn't allowed to watch it. She made me write about Why I Love Blue Peter instead.

I was also banned from watching Eastenders for the first few years, as well as that First AIDS programme and I even had a babysitter who wouldn't let me watch Grange Hill.

No wonder I was the class square ffs.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I was once involved in a group beating that was handed to an unfortunate clod who said he preferred Go-Bots to Transformers. Man, the punches we threw!

2nd grade fucking ruled

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm usually appalled by playground bullying but, really, that kid deserved the kicking. Fucking Go-bots.

robster (robster), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Totally.

This wasn't bullying though - I've never bullied anyone in my life. This was a beatdown, in the clasic "your opinion is wrong so we're going to punch a new one into you" sense.

It WAS 2nd grade...

and hey, i've taken my share.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
A co-worker told me today that at a radio station he was working at, he once met Mr. T on a publicity tour. Apparently, the following conversation took place:

[During a commericial break:]
MY CO-WORKER: Can I get you a cup of coffee?
MR. T: Coffee! Would you ask Mr. Coffee if he wanted a cup of tea? No, fool! You wouldn't! So you better not ask Mr. T if he wants any COFFEE!
[silence]
MR. T: Some water would be nice. [winks] Thank you.
