While driving up to a red light today, 40 miles from home, my car stalled and would not restart. So I got out and began pushing it out of the way.

(PS#12) A really cute girl pulled up and asked if I needed help. um, yeah...She and I got the car off the road.

(PS#13) A cool guy diagnosed the problem as my alternator and attached jumper cables from his truck long enough to give the battery a sufficient charge so I could drive it to a garage.

(PS#14) He pointed out that just around the corner there was a place that catered to foreign cars. BTW, those are rare around here.

(PS#15) "Oh, yeah, we can get you in, no trouble."

(PS#16) Problem solved with an hour's worth of labor.

All of the people who helped were among the most pleasant that you could ask to meet. None would accept payment except the garage, but then that's how they make a living. I definitely will schedule all future breakdowns to happen at that intersection.

My ability to create tomato sauce is rapidly improving! But I must credit those who gave good advice first and foremost.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 August 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, tomahto sauce: That stuff keeps for ages in the freezer. Or were you making tomayto sauce, Ned?

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 12 August 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I say the latter, but let us not call the whole thing off. In this case I plan on using it tomorrow as well, but yes, had I been so inclined I'd freeze away.
