Roger Adultery is going bananas and will probably commit himself before he even MAKES it to his new house. Does anybody in NYC want any of this shit?

I'm at the end of my rope. I don't have time for a garage sale and this stuff is too big to put up on eBay. If anyone is in NYC on Friday and wants to buy any of this stuff, let me know and we'll pick a time to meet up. I have:

a 3/4 size cello that is in prety good shape, a good practice / beginner cello - bought for $400, yours for $50.

A Compaq Presario computer, with keyboard and speakers and in box. No monitor. Sold as is, I know nothing about it so please don't ask - you savvy geek types can use it for parts or something. Pretty sure it works. $30 gets you the whole shabeng, including box and manuals.

A skateboard - with griptape, etc, used once or twice when Wifey wanted to learn. I stenciled the "Satan" fish on the botton, otherwise the bottom is plain. I tried it out and it's definitely decent. $25.

3 keyboard stands - X wing style - $15 each or all three for $35

A heavy duty handtruck - totally saved my life a few times. Great for transporting record boxes. $25

A Hewlett Packard word processor w/ monitor (needs ink ribbon) - $20

A Proscan DVD player (no remote but otherwise in great shape) - $25

A random milk crate of indie CDs - some doubles, mostly totally obscure (even for ILM) - I can tell you that there's a Centro-Matic CD, a Bablicon CD, Flin Flon...just looking to get rid of it. A lot of them are sealed. There's probably well over 200 CDs - Mostly grade A crapola. $30 for the box

Two boxes of 7"s - same as above - doubles, locals, no-names - for the curious and frivolous only. Both boxes (about 200 7"s) - $20.

I also have a Hammond organ I'm looking to get rid of, but it won't fit in the car. Animation by Leslie, and comes equipped with an SS1 Sound Simulator. It's in decent shape - a few weird quirks but otherwise fine. You'll have to come out to Staten Island to pick it up, but it's yours for only $250. a STEAL!

IMPORTANT: This is a ONE TIME offer, as it will be my last time visiting the city for a while. There'll be a window of time in the afternoon to meet up. I'll also be at the Sonic Youth gig that night, so I'll be around late. You'll also get to meet noise queen Tovah O'Rourke, who'll be rollin' with me.

I need this money to move so don't get all 'bargain-y' with me - I will, however, give discounts for more than one item...

Let me know QUICK if you want any of this...

(sorry to use the board to sell crap etc etc)

More stuff:

24 issues of The Source dating from 1992-1996. From hip-hops' second golden age! Great covers featuring Snoop, Scarface, etc. Remember when this magazine was GOOD? the whole bunch for $10

A Neotopia R7100 SDSL Router - brand new, never used, in box with manuals, etc. I don't even know what this is. $25

A sealed KISS 500 piece jigsaw puzzle - Rock and Roll Over logo / cartoon. Totally gay but great for any Kiss fan, god help them. Only $5 or free with something else

Vic (Vic), Thursday, 12 August 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hobart paving (hobart paving), Thursday, 12 August 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic - no.

hobart - I don't sell my excrement though I'm sure I could convince Wifey to put some old socks or shoes on the auction block for me

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I would have liked the cello

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish u were moving to Los Angeles as originally planned, and then i;d have taken the organ (if it was much less hehe)

Vic (Vic), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

These threads make me sooo sad.

Firstly, because there's always tons of stuff that I would love to buy if I lived closer. (I want a cello.) But moreso, because moving is so sad when people have to sell treasured belongings. :-(

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not so sad. Honestly, I've never really 'treasured' any of this stuff. I posted on a different thread how much I admire the hippies who can move with a duffel bag and a backpack. Stuff sucks. It is currently the dark cloud over my existence.

"Things you own...end up owning you" - Tyler Durden.

"You are not what you own" - Fugazi

etc etc

That said, please buy my stuff. It'll enrich your life and make you a better person

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

If I were anywhere near NYC, I would buy your cello. I would even carry it home on the subway. But unfortunately, it's a bit far to travel from St.Reathams.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Thursday, 12 August 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

kingfish, you should ebay those Gor novels, I just did that and made a bunch of money; who knew there were thousands of misogynists just waiting to get their hands on them?

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 14 August 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. what a hellish experience. if anyone in the metro area wants an elka combo organ (the panther model) that works mostly fine, let me know. it's yours.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 14 August 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

is that Elka even remotely portable ?

Russ (Russ), Saturday, 14 August 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yes! super-portable, actually. i had it shipped to my office when i won it off of ebay, and a tall male friend of mine was able to carry it home for me with the help of a cab.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 14 August 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Russ (Russ), Saturday, 14 August 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Saturday, 14 August 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If anyone's getting rid of furniture let me know via email. Moving in tomorrow to new place, i need of COUCHEZ and LAMPZ and TABLEZ.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Saturday, 14 August 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian - you're welcome to come here tomorrow and pick up a shitty couch (you'll need to cover it, it smells fine and all but is disgusting to look at), a matching easy-chair, and two crappy lamps. Lemme know

Russ - Didn't get your email about the keyboard stand. Hit me at blindjimdeath@hotmail.com

Maura - the records are yours if you want 'em. Either arrange to pick 'em up in Staten Island or I can mail 'em out to you if you add $10 for postage (i'll probably lose money on that but oh well)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 14 August 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

ian, i have stuff as well. msg me next time i'm on aim.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 14 August 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

How did I miss this thread? I want cheap stuff please k thx bye.

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 15 August 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm gonna call ya tomorrow, rog. this sounds like a fine idea. ah, staten island.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Sunday, 15 August 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

cool. my number is 718-356-4075. we'll be here all day (later in the day is better tho since we're packing the trailer all morning)

i just hope the couch makes it down the stairs

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 15 August 2004 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

OK - everything is being reduced. On principle, I will NOT throw this stuff away, since it's all perfectly good (and in the case of the organ, great). Think about it - one tough day borrrowing a truck or being really daring and tying an organ to the top of your Honda and you can have an awesome Hammond that people will not believe you paid $250 - fuck it, $150 for. COME ON!!

That's right, only $150! So, the organ is a total steal. Wifey's mad, but that's, as we say, tough titties.

Everything else except the hand truck, the DVD player, and keyboard stands is HALF PRICE. Yes, the records / CDs too.

I'd just GIVE this shit away, but then, the communists have already won.

Just kidding.

Actually, the extra trip to the city in what has become known as the Duct Tape Car (130,000 miles on it already and a tour, two trips to Tennessee, and an 8 hour drive to Michigan to go), with gas prices as they are, I just can't do it (plus we really need all the scratch we can get since we're coming upon our second month with no income and the trailer cost us $1500 to rent, this is to say nothing of security deposits, etc etc etc - you know how it is)

SO - I'll be in the city TWO MORE TIMES - on the 19th (and the very early morning of the 20th) I'll be in NYC and Brooklyn. On the 28th I will be in NYC for the Simon Finn show (I can come in early if it's worth my while).

Anyone who wants to arrange a trip to Staten Island, as some have already done, are welcome to, but we'll be gone from tomorrow till the 18th, and then the 20-26th. We leave for good on the 1st.

Email me asap or post here and reserve stuff - the cello is gone and I believe the hand truck, skateboard and keyboard stands are spoken for (but if you want any of them let me know in case any of those dudes flake out)

Don't make me resort to eBay (I probably won't - chances are, my sister and her fiance, he of the nu-metal band Bump, will inherit all of this stuff. Don't let it come to that.)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 15 August 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, there's also a snowboard I'll let go for $10.

Plus, if you buy ANYTHING, you'll have the enviable honor of actually getting to meet me in person. For FREE!

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 15 August 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

have you tried the local Freecycle list in your area? might be helpful for getting rid of some of the stuff in the end...

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Sunday, 15 August 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Going subway with a normal-sized CD milkcrate sounds like fun: I'd happily take them on the 19th. I'll either be hauling them to the Upper West Side or Carroll Garden, so Manhattan & Brooklyn pickups would be equally convenient.

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 15 August 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Done. If no one claims the two boxes of 7"s I'll give you those for just $5 more (making the whole thing an even $20). I'll try to box everything up nice and throw in some extra (but not heavy) junk like zines. Will make it subway-efficient.

I'll be in the Williamsburg area on the 19th - won't have a lot of email access before then, but email me offthread for the whens and wheres and i'll hit ya back when i can. Thanks
