no pressure but I am going to be in chicago this weekend and just firmed up my plans. I am going to curiosa tonight at the tweeter and staying in a hotel nearby, but then on friday we (me and the mr) are doing chicago proper and seeing a friend. We are going to some sort of crazy punk happening friday night with a band called the Nuclear Family at the old Highschool gallery at 1542 N Milwaukee, 3rd floor, near the intersection of Milwaukee/North/Damen. So if any ilxors want to drop by there and say hi, or perhaps meet us for breakfast saturday morning before we leave, give me a holler with your phone number at teeny aaaaaaaaat bust dot com and please do me a favor and put FAP in the subject line because that addy gets a lot of spaaaaam.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 12 August 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What kind of show is that? That's near my house and my sister will be visiting and might want to do some krazy punk shit.

na (Nick A.), Thursday, 12 August 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, sounds promising. I might be interested. I am going to a co-worker's going-away thing right after work, but don't have plans right afterward.

Incidentally, I don't know what the Highschool gallery is, but I think that address is what's currently known as the Heaven/Buddy space. Lotsa hipsters, but good times.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 12 August 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

(I just e-mailed you, T)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 12 August 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

(Don't believe the hype, she is tricking you again!)

nabiscothingy, Thursday, 12 August 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 12 August 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i sent you an email with the subject "hottt guyz want to meet U" but you never replied!

|a|m|t|r|s|t| (amateurist), Thursday, 12 August 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

That's because you put in the wrong address and sent it to me instead.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 August 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"wrong"
"instead"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 12 August 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I could be down for this. Been a while since I went to a show that wasn't bad and hated mellowness.

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 12 August 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

sigh

any other weekend

todd swiss (eliti), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

|a|m|t|r|s|t| (amateurist), Friday, 13 August 2004 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny, drive to detroit/ann arbor afterwards

you and mr teeny can help me sort books i need to sell

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Friday, 13 August 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

So who's going to the punk rock show tonight? I think me, Sarah, and my sister might. Is it really at Buddy space? Cuz Sarah said there was no word of a show on the Buddyspace website.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this "Highschool gallery" might be on the 3rd floor. (Buddy is on the 2nd.) Also: I wouldn't necessarily trust the Buddy website, you know, considering the space is run by art-school dropouts and anarchist fags.

I e-mailed Teeny to say I was interested but I haven't heard back from her.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I emailed her too. Do you think you're going to go? I wonder what time this thing is.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

j-is R out of town this weekend, too?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

No, she's around. She's coming with me to the Village Tap for my co-worker's going-away party; I'm not sure what's happening after that.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to thea's house with katie for a bit & then . . . & then? i may try to give L a call late into the night, but who knows. call me if anything happens later tonight?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry guys I just now got access to a computer, will check my email directly. Unfortunately I don't know any new information on the gig, like what time it starts, but yeah it is on third floor. will email my cell to people who emailed me now.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

awesome: thanks teeny!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

We all need to cooperate and work together tonight to show my sister HOW CHICAGO ROCKS.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i suspect you'll be wearing finger cymbals then?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

You sister? Oh, my. I should wear pants, then.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Chicago rocks more and more all the time. Just look at all the play the Chicago threads get lately!

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

DeRo!!! DEEEEROOOOOO!!!!! WOOO!!!!

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

He's the heart of the band, you know.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you think DeRo would join the Fake Fictions? He could play the tuba.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, sure, make the fat guy play tuba.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

OOM-PA OOM-PA OOM-PA

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

...and that's just him walking in cordouroys.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Terrible.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I just alienated 3/4 of the midwest.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm pretty sure the guy in the middle of the picture upthread is an art reviewer for NewCity, M!chael We!nste!n. He came to an opening at the museum I work at last week. Very strange dude.

robots in love (robotsinlove), Friday, 13 August 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoever he is, he lists the Unabomber as his role model.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Sassy!

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, that is m!chael we!nste!n, sociologist, punk rocker, pathetic spectacle.

amateur!!!st, Friday, 13 August 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

add sleaze bag to the list.

robots in love (robotsinlove), Friday, 13 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Chicago also rocks like this:

http://www.artistdirect.com/showcase//modern/photos/wilco.gif

Jessa says she saw Tweedy staggering down Clark street the other day. It was about 1 in the afternoon, and she surmised that he was either quite drunk or back on the horse.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

My sister is visiting us and she just called me to say that one of the dudes from the Polyphonic Spree just hit on her in Millenium Park. She said he was dorky.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Ya think?

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Tweedy stopped drinking 10 years ago.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

one of the dudes from the Polyphonic Spree

How did she know him? Aren't there like 75 of them? Or did he introduce himself?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

Well, it wasn't heat stroke.

Harold Media (kenan), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha. I was going to say, but was it the cute one??

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

He invited her to the show tonight.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Somehow I doubt being the fourth tambourine player for the Polyphonic Spree gets you a lot of chicks.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

oof. My head hurts.

na (Nick A.), Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha

You and me both. I was a big ball of silly last night. I hope I wasn't too obnoxious or anything, apart from stealing beer from that guy's fridge.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Good news -- that hundred dollar bill is right here in my desk where I left it. I was so convinced I'd given it to the cabbie.

Teeny and her man are k-cool. Dick Cheney playing guitar = classic classic classic. Special thanks to teeny, because without her, we wouldn't have been there to see that.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Also classic: that rooftop. Nick, did we successfully convince your sister that Chicago rocks?

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

WE WANT PHOTOS, BITCHEZ!

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I soooo wish I had brought my camera.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too. But I'll get Adrienne to send me pics once she has them developed.

IT WAS FUN!

na (Nick A.), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Adrienne looks just like you, Nick. Same eyes, same nose. You're an adorable pair.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

dooooods that was so fun!!! I'm so happy you all came out to the show which very possibly could have been a load of suck but was actually very fun. You guys are awesome!

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 14 August 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay!

jaymc, Saturday, 14 August 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it was awesome meeting mr. and mrs. teeny, two delightful individuals. I HAD A LOT OF FUUUUUUUUN. Adrienne and Sarah made fun of me for laughing so much at the Paragraphs.

na (Nick A.), Saturday, 14 August 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Was that the great first band or the second one? I laughed at the first band until my stomach hurt. OMG the look on Colin Powell's face! And Rummy took his shirt off! I'm laughing right now.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It was the first band, the second band are called Nuclear Family. I think I still have a bit of hearing loss. Mr teeny and Alyson liked you guys too, we're totally going to have to make it up to Chicago more often now.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 15 August 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay. I had fun too. There's nothing quite like drunkenly yelling at trains.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The White Knight: There's nothing like hay for a headache.

Alice: I should think some medicine would be better.

The White Knight: Oh, I didn't say there's nothing better, I said there's nothing like it.

Harold Media (kenan), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(Strike that. I *knew* that quote looked wrong. Here's the real one:

Alice was glad to see that it revived him a good deal. `There's nothing like eating hay when you're faint,' he remarked to her, as he munched away.

`I should think throwing cold water over you would be better,' Alice suggested: `-- or some sal-volatile.'

`I didn't say there was nothing better,' the King replied. `I said there was nothing like it.' Which Alice did not venture to deny.

Somebody made the other one up whole cloth. Even got the character wrong. Damned internet. I know nobody cares at all, but I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge my greivous misquote.)

Harold Media (kenan), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Urgh, the image tags didn't work. Just click on the LINKS!

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

To top! Too bad we never got a good pic of us all screaming at the passing el train.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a pretty good pic of Nick screaming in your ear, though!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

My sister looks concerned.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

nick looks very professorial

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

!?

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick you look JUST like a dark hate Pete B4r4n.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure who that is, or what "dark hate" means.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

omg, I meant "dark haired". What does that say about me? Pete, you know, Idiot Pete, in London, pictured in many FAPs, that Pete.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm. I shall have to investigate this Pete B4r4n.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Kenan's skinnier than I thought.
Your sister has very nice eyes.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Teeny looks so much taller than I thought - not that teeny after all.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

oops you have a predelication for perving on girls in FAP photos...

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the pics!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

and the fap fun of course.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree that Nick's sister is pretty, I love the first pic of Nick & Sarah, and teeny isn't as teeny as I thought, either

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops thinks I'm skinny. That makes my day. And you see how I'm holding on to the edge there? That's metaphorical as well as literal. Man I was bombed.

oops you have a predelication for perving on girls in FAP photos...

He wasn't perving! She's quite lovely, though.

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny = a tall drink of water.

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, now I'm perving.

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, do you have any more of these? Where are the bad ones?

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 05:00 (twenty-one years ago)

A few more:

ihttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/naamme/pica.jpg
me, jaymc, Kenan

ihttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/naamme/picb.jpg
sister, Sarah, me, jaymc, Kenan

ihttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/naamme/picc.jpg
some girl, me, jaymc, Kenan

In case it's not very obvious, I was also extremely drunk. I like how we're always standing in the same order for some reason. Teeny was only in ONE of the pics my sis sent me, and Mr. Teeny wasn't in ANY of them. That's kind of lame. But I think the last pic here best reflects the drunkenness of the evening.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 September 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Holy crap, Nick, Sarah looks like my ex in that second-last photo!

(you actually look more like a Sinist*r chap called Stefano who's been to a couple of FAPs than Pete B)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 9 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Who is that "some girl" person?! 'She' doesn't look like your sis, me, or teeny...??

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 9 September 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It was just this girl who was at the party who came out and started talking to us. I don't remember what she was talking about though, due to drunkenness, but that was the girl who told us about the after-party on our block that we forgot to go to.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 September 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the last shot. Not just drunken, but somehow apocalyptic.

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah seriously what the hell? (would make a great mid-80s depeche mode video)

amateur!!st, Thursday, 9 September 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know how my sister did that. She just has a little automatic camera. Just lucky and drunkenness I guess.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 September 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

It's an awesome photo.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 9 September 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah...I just read your post on the diet thread & after seeing these photos I can't believe that you wear anything larger than an 8. You seem so slender & tall. Pretty, too.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 9 September 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Despeckled:

http://giganticmag.com/images/picc.jpg

Tonight at ten (kenan), Thursday, 9 September 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, thanks kelsey. When I was wearing an, um, larger size, pretty soon after we got to Chicago, I went in this plus-size boutique. The ladies behind the counter gave me looks. And were like, "Honey doll suga' pie, you sure you walked in the right door?" Ok, that's not how they talked, but it makes for a better story. Anyway, I was like, "YEESssss..." And they said, "There's no way you wear that size!" And I was like, "YYEEEESsssss..." So then I tried something on in my size and they were like, "Oh, I guess you do wear that size," and I was actually rather disappointed.

Anyway, boo yah!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Kenan, you are looking super thin these days... and Sarah, no way would I have said you wore above an 8.

Also, I would not have known that was a girl in the picture directly above had you not told me.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna is OTM on all accounts.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

As an aside, there is something I love about the word 'slender'

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

accounts should probably = counts

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

That "some girl" girl blurredishly looks quite a bit like my friend Jenny who lives in Chicago. Based on shape & haircut & clothes style & such.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

it's really brave of you, sarah, to speak so candidly about diet & body stuff. as much as i'd like to say that i don't worry about that stuff--i do.

kelsey (kelstarry), Thursday, 9 September 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)
