Thieves have broken into my office!

I came into the office just now and it appears as though several of the office doors have been crowbared open and half a dozen computers have been taken from another project in the same office, as well as a laptop from one of ours.

So now I will call the police and stalk around the office with a length of pipe if I can find one and smoke out any intruders.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 22 August 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

were they wearing trucker hats?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 22 August 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I would ask your midget coworker tomorrow why he's been looking so shifty-eyed lately.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It's probably the draught from the keyhole.

Poor little fucker.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

No excitement to report other than the fact that my rudimentary detective skills have determined that the front door was NOT JIMMIED OPEN and therefore this is AN INSIDE JOB. The police are en route as are the bossmen.

So Ned, you might be right...watch this space...

Are the crowbar marks at knee height?

So, you're still in the office? Typing stuff to us on one of the computers? (I guess one of the non-stolen ones...) I'd like to see some typed out vigelantism from you, with the thieves responding in kind.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

You'll never catch me, copper! Do you hear me!!!??

The thief (SeanC), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

The rock critics are having their revenge on you.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

haha but they didn't get my computer!

now the police are here and I must give them a tour and tell them to check in on the whereabouts of a nefarious cabal of east-coast music scribblers.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Advantageous for me that I am on this coast.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 August 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

what's funny is of course I was technically in the other office for several hours prior and didn't in fact notice the G0tt1 office doors splintered wide open.

Now I'm back home, case remains unsolved.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 22 August 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, if it wasn't for the fact that 99% of my work stories on ILX sound completely made up, I'd be accusing you of having one helluva overactive imagination, Gear! The problem is that I'm pretty sure a midget in a trucker hat gave a blow job to a computer thief at my last office, or I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at least, so I give you the benefit of the doubt.

Your midget co-worker is G. Gordon Liddy.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 23 August 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

You should have removed a couple more computers before notifying the police. "Summer bonus"

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 23 August 2004 05:05 (twenty-one years ago)

G Gordon Liddy with a tan.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 23 August 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The midge has just informed me that "This...this was a hard-target break-in. They took only what they needed, left what they didn't need behind. These guys, they knew exactly what they wanted. Professionals did this, dangerous men. They would have killed if they had to."

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF WHY ARE YOU NOT RECORDING THIS MAN AND CIRCULATING THE MP3S?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

because he's just doing Will: the AUDIOBOOK?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

This would also make for a great TV show! Gear and the Midge!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

"So I put my hand into the midget...just to show how tough I was."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

ME: "Funny thing is, they didn't take any of the expensive video equipment from the front office, which might be more valuable than computers."
MIDGE: "Oh they'll be back for that."
ME: "...."

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 August 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I-ho I-ho it's off to steal will go.
