My goddamned eye

My eye (eyebrow & temple) has been twitching (not constantly, but every few minutes) for about a week. I don't think it would be noticiable to anyone looking at me .. but I can feel it. Am I about to have an aneurism? Or do I need a botox injection or something? Would a punch in the face or a kick from a mule help?

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:44 (twenty years ago)

I think the kick from a mule may help. Although you are probably just tired. My eyes twitch when i am. I always run to the mirror to see, but it nearly always stops before I get there.

I'm sad this wasn't a Momus thread.

you are a sadistic sick-o, nick¡ do you really want to see the poor man with 2 eye patches¿

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:50 (twenty years ago)

I've been having weird eye pains and twitches lately too. Lasted just under two weeks but at one point I literally couldn't open one of them without a sharp stabbing pain going through it.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:51 (twenty years ago)

I get this too. I think it is usually just tiredness and stress. If you are looking at a monitor a lot, take regular screen breaks.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Plus a lot of other people have been complaining about similar things. I wonder if it's an epidemic?

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Stop huffing solvents.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Could it be... staring at ILx ALL THE FREAKING DAY LONG?

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:53 (twenty years ago)

I've had this on-&-off all my life. Can confirm, dave, your eye is indeed damned by god.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:56 (twenty years ago)

it could well be.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:56 (twenty years ago)

It may be stress.. I can't imagine what would be twitching if I actually did work & got into my job.

God hates my eye.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:57 (twenty years ago)

God has a wonky eye, don'tcha know.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 26 August 2004 14:06 (twenty years ago)

i've had recommended to me, in case of eye twitching, a drink of tonic water, as there is apparently some chemical in it that relaxes muscles. it seems to have worked ok for me. it was recommended by my eye doctor, if that carries any additional weight.

the leglo (the leglo), Thursday, 26 August 2004 14:11 (twenty years ago)

Can I mix it with Gin? Because tonic water alone tastes like stomach acid to me...

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 26 August 2004 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Yep, plenty of gin is definitely the solution to random twitching.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 26 August 2004 14:33 (twenty years ago)

i used to get this off an on for years. then it stopped. no idea why.

Gin is actually a wonder-cure for many ailments. i'm trying to patent the morning martini as an arthritis medicine. the FDA are resistant though.

OW! OW! OW! It's hurting again! Really bad!

eye twitching is from caffeine poisoning

ffffff, Friday, 27 August 2004 16:35 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
Status update: It's still twitching.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:09 (twenty years ago)

A lot of people I know have eyes that twitch when they're stressed out... my eye twitched on and off for a week a while ago, but it seemed to go away of its own accord. A month, though? That sounds a bit ominous...

uh-oh.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago)

Does it do it consistantly?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:21 (twenty years ago)

every few minutes. Pretty constant. What do I have to be stressed about? Just my eye twitching, that's all.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:22 (twenty years ago)

Dude, get along to the doctor. I would say it's stress or tiredness, althougha whole month seems awful!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:23 (twenty years ago)

Poor me (and my goddamned eye.)

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps like you say you are getting stressed about the eye, which is in turn causing the eye to twitch. The twitching therefore will get faster... and faster...

You should get to the doctor before your eyelid falls/flys off

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:42 (twenty years ago)

It's a great lil short film about a hypochondriac with an eye twitch. I just found it.. Now I'm looking on their website at all of their other films..

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 20 September 2004 13:44 (twenty years ago)

It feels like there is a stray lash in my left eye (since yesterday). When I go to the mirror and look, there's nothing I can see to extract. WTF?

also, fuck my life

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 18 August 2014 14:33 (ten years ago)

Could be a slight abrasion on the eyeball from rubbing your eyes while there was a bit of grit or an eyelash in there? At least that's happened to me several times. The grit or whatever is blinked away but the abrasion remains until I can keep from rubbing my eyes for a solid 24.

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:31 (ten years ago)

my eyes water very frequently. i rub them more than i should.

so did this just go away after 24 hrs? did you use eyewash?

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:35 (ten years ago)

My old boss forced me to see 2 different doctors once bc I had an abrasion and she was afraid it was pink eye. The ophthamologist gave me antibiotic drops I think? But saline solution should be as good, it's antiseptic.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:45 (ten years ago)

i can get that OTC right

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:54 (ten years ago)

i mean, that's in eyewash?

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:54 (ten years ago)

Uh probably? It's contact solution.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 18 August 2014 15:56 (ten years ago)

so did this just go away after 24 hrs? did you use eyewash?

― son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, August 18, 2014 10:35 AM (1 hour ago)

Yes; no. I just force myself to not rub my eyes during the day, as maddening as that is. That plus a night of sleep and the irritation is gone the next morning.

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Monday, 18 August 2014 16:40 (ten years ago)

thanking u all
