taking sides: Circumcised or the Other Kind

I suspect there may be transatlantic differences. I want to, ah, mount a defense of the circumcised penis but can't think of a single advantage. Besides maybe that American girls are not shocked to discover you have one.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's meant to be more hygenic or something. I don't personally know.

james, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I guess the only way to tell is to be one way then the other, then judge. Not many would volunteer for this, I'm guessing. As it is, in my case snip snip.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh lord, do I have to be the one to say this? One word - smegma.

Kim, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ok, I without sounding too weird, I have to say I think uncircumsized dicks are awesome. I just think it looks completely cool. And I'm sure it feels way better too; I mean, all the skin they're cutting off when they circumsize you is the sensitive part, and then what's left of it is all exposed to rubbing against your leg and underwear forever. I'm cut, and wish I wasn't. The last few guys I've been with have been uncut by coincidence, and I just love it. Just answering this question has me all excited! Good thing I have a date tonight...

Sean, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A friend from high school once claimed that he'd read the entire dictionary and could recite the definition of any word. Everyone decided he was talking shit, so someone decided to test him.

The word they came up with was "smegma". They were too afraid to quiz him after he got that one right (which was unfortunate, as he was, in fact, talking shit).

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Smegma is too great a word for something so gross and unwanted.

james, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, I don't know the word because of any unpleasant personal experience or anything, so I'm a shit talker myself. Just figured that it'd be best to get that one... out in the open.

(I didn't plan that - damned contextual connotations!)

Kim, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How many parts of your body get dirty and smelly if you don't take a shower? Ok, now how many people you're gonna sleep with really don't take showers? To me, as long as your friend or partner is clean, smegma is a non-issue. I hope this thread takes a more pleasant turn, but knowing ILE, I doubt it! :-)

And yes, my date tonight is uncut. Hooray!

Sean, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So you've already investigated him, is what you're saying. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He's also 13 years younger than me. Does this make it more exciting? Hell yeah!!

Sean, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned: Yes. However, my curiousity is not completely sated.

Sean, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm shocked Sean. I hope you're over 30.

Samantha, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Um, I'll be 34 on Saturday; he's 21. Gosh, I'm not a child molester or anything.

Sean, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ahem... Sean is vehemently not a child molester...

For women, it really doesn't matter but it tends to weigh a little more towards a thumbs up in the "cut" direction... less sensitivity so guy doesn't lose excitement as fast (and therefore "keeps at it"), more ridges, ribs, etc. so it's better "for her pleasure". It also depends on the condom, too.... all of the above based on my own personal surveys. Other women may have different fetishes/experiences/etc.

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

long ago when i worked as a nursing aide i had to roll back the hood on a few old geezers and clean it, seems like such a hassle. then you always had to worry about not rolling it back and the guy's fella turning blue.

keith, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ewwww....

Kris, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i like uncut . but i have a jew.

anthony, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i like both cut and uncut. its the size that matters anyway.

di, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Geoff, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

di, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Which is more usual these days? Roundheads or Cavaliers?

Sam, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i have one of each

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

In the UK *smeg* suddenly became the hippest rude word in the late 80s when Red Dwarf started. I was in a class totally silenced in embarrassment when a girl had shouted *smeghead* across the room and the teacher explained exactly what she'd meant.

chris, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The words 'hippest' and 'Red Dwarf' can never be used in the same sentence.

Andrew L, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

As a Muslim, I have undergone circumcision. Basically my bell-end has now taken on leather consistency. I can play drums on it, burn it with a lighter, etc. Great stuff. Plus I can star in porn fims. When has an uncircumcised guy ever appeared in porn???

Kodanshi, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Erm, don't uncut chaps find that it roll itself back behind the head when erect in any case? Which would provide all the ridges a gal could need!

Either that or I'm half-cut. Hmm.

Mark C, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good point, I should've specified: *hip* amongst 11-year-olds.

chris, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't worry Mark - you're not a freak. I find it touching that you weren't sure.

Nick, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It rolls back a bit, but not all the way. I'd say "UNcut", but that's because I am. And squeamish also. Smegma - pffff - like, wash yourself regularly, y'know? Not a problem thusly....blah blah blah....

Norman Phay, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was just teasing Sean, I'm sure you're not a molester. I really can't comment on this thread since i've never seen an uncut one in person. If i had a son though i wouldn't circumcise him.

Samantha, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blimey, Samantha, don't encourage men by referring to their dicks as 'in person'.

Emma, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was referring more to my being 'in person' Emma but i see your point.

Samantha, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

my person = fancy

mark s, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I know a man whose affectionate name for his daughters is "Smagma chicken."

1 1 2 3 5, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Perhaps one day his daughter will affectionately kick him in the nutsack.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Women who are married to uncircumcised guys have a higher rate of cervical cancer.

For women circumcised is better for three reasons:
1 - Lower chance of cervical cancer (or pre-cancerous changes at any rate)
2 - Less chance of encountering smegma
3 - Much easier to deal with when the man becomes senile and incontinent (there are still more female nurses than male).

From the man's point of view circumcised is probably easier to look after, but probably less sensitive. At least if circumcised there is no chance of having a foreskin that is too tight to roll back hence causing major pain if intercourse is attempted.

I find it strange that male circumcision is considered all right in the west when female circumcision is so taboo. Really it is physical abuse, is it not? Especially seeing as they do not usually use anaesthetic.

toraneko, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If god wanted us to have no foreskin he wouldn't have given us any would he.

Ronan, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kids, an uncircumsised little chap is NOT HARD TO LOOK AFTER. And any bloke who tells you it is is a lazy fucker.

Chopping bits off your nob is pointless and stupid. I'm glad I'm not American.

Mark C, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think it's pretty abusive. Especially here (US) where people do it with no religious significance, etc. The poor kid has no choice! That's just wrong.

Samantha, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had to have the snip when I was a little lad 'cos my foreskin wasn't retracting properly and it was v. v. painful. Apparently it's a pretty common prob.

Andrew L, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh yes

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah & i had it done when i was like 2 or something, i used to play in the sand pit without no pants & i got a inflamed penis from sand under the foreskin. when i came out of the hospital i had a bandage around my dick so i took it off in the bath & it started to bleed, when my mother came in to take me out of the bath there was all blood in the water & she screamed!
