I actully wrote the Board that decides what stamps to make (you can only write them snailmail, they don't have a website) to demand a Raymond Carver stamp. It hasn't happened yet.

This is possibly the best idea ever and I find the extra money totally justifiable except for paying bills, which is the only thing I use stamps for anymore.

Ohhh, maybe we'll get this in Canada by 2043.

Huck, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 17:09 (twenty years ago)

the real question is, can we get away with using things like album covers (or even famous photos) without suffering retribution from the Copyright Police? Because I'm certain things like cartoon characters (Meatwad!) probably won't be allowed.

don carville weiner, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 17:11 (twenty years ago)

I bet stamp collectors are pissed now.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 17:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh man, if I can get the original cover of Carcass's Symphonies of Sickness on a stamp, anything is possible.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 17:12 (twenty years ago)

Or not, won't the end of the regular stamp inflate the worth of 'em? As in, there ain't no more!

this is going to make the holidays a lot more interesting, that's for sure.

And every wedding and birthday and party invite that gets sent out.

Huck dude, Canada has had this (sort of) for a long time!

Picture Postage

okay, so you're supposed to only send them a real photo you took, but you could probably get away with sending any old (not-recognizably copyrighted) pic if you printed it on photo paper.
