Is there a quicker alternative to Blogger?

I am JACK of Blogger and its 20 minute loading time for those without broadband. I'm putting up a few words, not the bloody Ring Cycle. Is there anything out there like ILX, but for blogging - just the words, no fancy unneccesary shit?

My daughter uses Xanga (xanga.com) and I've never heard any complaints. Another friend uses LiveJournal. Ditto.

The friend who uses LiveJournal is in her late 30s. Another friend who uses LiveJournal is in her early 30s. I think the users might be heavily teens, but not exclusively, by a long shot.
