s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

amen

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

You misspelled "ladyboyxxxtreme" as "amazon" there, slocki.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"NOT AGAIN"

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

gmail doesn't do that to me

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure what you mean?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you mean if you try to go Back, it reloads the page you're on?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

no, it's like if you load up gmail and then switch to another tab/window, gmail will yank you back when the page is finished loading

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

just when you think you are out, they pull you back in

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I get it. Yeah, that doesn't happen to me with Amazon OR Gmail. I'm on Mozilla.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

NO IT DOESN'T DO THAT

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I know what you mean, it's a bit annoying, I agree.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

FINALLY

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It's your browser, slocki. In case this thread hadn't clued you in yet.

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

NONONONONO

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

safari.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I used Safari for exactly one hour before I gave up and downloaded Firefox. If you're on OSX, I recommend you do so immediately as well. Safari has all kinds of rendering issues, and while it's the standard alternative to IE, it's no great shakes as a browser.

Firefox. I'm not kidding. Just wait until you start playing around with the plugins. you'll never go back.

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

ehh i used firefox (or mozilla) on my old pc & while i liked it i think i prefer safari

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

because it makes browsing an amazing safari!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Safari is for weenies

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha ok that makes me want to go back to using Safari.

Wait, I do use Safari on my computer. Firefox is slooooow on mine for some reason.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

safari is amazing.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

have you people tried Firefox 0.9.3? It blows Safari out of the water IMHO

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

how's that?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Netscape 7.0. The lo-fi choice.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The development tools available for Firefox are unbeatable, though.

Firefox does load a little slow, I know. It's still pretty much in beta, after all. But once version 1.0 is released... man.

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

slocki, I'm wavering!!!!

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Where do we get this Safari thing from? And does it take ages to download? I've not got broadband.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Plugins ahoy!

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Firefox is okay with me, though I've had problems filling in forms - it sometimes doesn't let me put my cursor in whatever box I'm trying to fill.

gainfully employed (ex machina), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm turning images off right the fuck now.

The most useful toolbar ever?

(I hope no one thinks I'm just being dogmatic about Firefox or something. It really *is* good.)

Harold Media (kenan), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I use Firefox at home. I guess I could download it here, too, but I'm too lazy, and I'm using regular Mozilla anyway. Anyway, the main reason I like Firefox is aesthetic, actually. Safari always just looks so chintzy somehow.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 September 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

my eyes my eyes!!! ilx looks so new.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 2 September 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

If you want to use IE, I believe Tweak UI from MS will allow you to prevent the window stealing the focus...

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Thursday, 2 September 2004 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

wow loads of plugins but slow scrolling down pages and shonky type rendering IT'S FIREFOX FOR ME!

I'M BEING SARCASTIC. Probably looks good if you're a PC user/script kiddie and used to IE. I give it a B. Development tools are no match for pleasant web surfing. YMMV.

BROWSER WAR BROWSER WAR

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:17 (twenty-one years ago)

good god the scroll rate is unbearably slow and the rendering is hokey and awful. safari wipes the floor with this.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

that statuette is playing a nose 'twin' flute. A twin nose flute? I know a guy who used to do that. hilarious. I have not tried Safari or firefox, I don't know which to get, the names are both so enticing and the jury seems to be out on which is better

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

safari always reminds me of christopher biggins.

'Safari?'
'So Goody!'

koogs (koogs), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you joking? Safari fucks up rendering on so many pages. Do you mean font rendering?

gainfully employed (ex machina), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I said: i'm on safari and i haven't noticed this on amazon.
but GMAIL does indeed do this. annoying. GMAIL is javascripting all over the place and a little rough at the edges still.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 13:50 (twenty years ago)

Is the SP2 popup blocker getting in the way of gmail contacts windows for anyone else?
