Black out on company websites because of what's happened in Russia

We are an entertaining company that produces cultural events, the main of which is due to open on sunday, so that today and tomorrow we are going to have top visits to our web sites. Now our boss has decided to blacken all our sites (and leave only the date + picture of one of the poor kids in Russia) for the next 24 hours...
It seems to me it's like taking a mediatic advantage of the drama (even though I'm sure of my boss' sincere intention)
