Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

BTW Alex WHAT THE HELL is that large white glob? Is it a rotted whale?

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Bingo, Trayce. I guess that doesn't count as "unexplained".

The top image (next to bigfoot) was famously pulled up by a Japanese fishing boat, but they didn't keep it on board, as the smell was supposedly unbearable.

iOne of the most prominent cases of a misidentified "globster" reported as a sea monster took place in April 1977, on board a Japanese fishing boat named the Zuiyo-maru. About 30 miles off the coast of Christchurch, New Zealand, the trawler's nets snared a huge animal carcass of an indeterminate sort. The crew hauled the monstrous body out of the ocean and up over the deck, and at first they thought it was a rotten whale. But after a closer look, they weren't so sure.
The creature was 33 feet long and weighed about 4000 pounds. It had a snake-like head at the end of a long, slender neck, making it seem rather unlike a whale. Some crew members commented that it looked like a giant turtle without a shell, and it also had a strong resemblance to a plesiosaur. Although they recognized that this was possibly a scientific discovery of historical proportions, the crew of the Zuiyo-maru agreed that they had to throw the carcass back into the sea. If they kept the decayed creature on board it could contaminate the catch of fish that was more valuable to them than any scientific find. Besides, the awful stench coming off the carcass was unbearable.

Heh Im one step ahead of you now I just read the whole page ;)

Now I need to go look at a basking shark and see what the hell they look like.

I love the sea. I want to live under the sea.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, in the sea. Living under the sea would necessitate the embuildment of a bloody dumb shack thing several feet below the sand, and I'm not going all the way down there just to build shit.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

most of those purported sea monster caracsses turn out to be from whales or sharks.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 4 September 2004 06:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I once saw a really creepy photo in one of those old PG Tips photocard giveaways - the things where you'd have a picture on one side of a little card and on the other side you'd have an explanation of what it was. It was in a series of "Ghostly Phenomena" and I have never seen the photo anywhere else. It was of two men sitting on a bench in front of a wall. They are looking at the camera grinning. It seems normal at first, until you notice that a pair of hands are coming out of the wall and wrapping themselves around the waist of one of the men!

Chriddof (Chriddof), Saturday, 4 September 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to see that! I'm always freaked by the photograph of the car (maybe a taxi) with the unexplained face in the back.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Saturday, 4 September 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember seeing a website several years ago which had several old looking photos about a party in an apartment with all sorts of strange levitation going on. I stumbled upon it by accident. It could very well have been an elaborate hoax, but they were really captivating pictures. Any bells ringing?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 4 September 2004 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanna live in the sea too! I want to be a mermaid and lure dumfucks to their watery thingy.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

May have been Peter Hurkos? I'm sure he was the only psychic not to be discredited 'back in the day'.

Your welcome! :)

Now can anyone find the Borley Rectory flying brick shot?

mzui, Sunday, 5 September 2004 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.touchshop.org/images/Fj-tv.gif

This is Freidrich Jurgenson who was famous for recording supposed spirit voices on tape and video. One of the forerunners of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon.)

He promised that after his death he would reciprocate somehow and this, apparently, is a picture of his face appearing on the home television set on the day of his funeral.
It was snapped by his wife.
