Yeah, you should, but I'm biased.

I love NYC, I was there for a year at FU@LC and was never bored, even though by second semester my social life had crumbled into me going to blues show by myself, smoking a pack and a half of cigarettes and consuming mass quantaties of alcohol. It was really fun.

New York rules. Manhattan sucks though. SU-U-U-UCKS. Just remember: bridge and tunnelers are the REAL New Yorkers. What are the really weird neighborhoods these days? places like 55 minutes away from Times Square, what are they? Are people still talking about Inwood like it's this perfect twee secret? Or Red Hook like it's the new Detroit? Live there, live in some random place, it'll be full of exactly the type of stuff people say they love about New York but haven't ever experienced or actually lived next to.

p.s. FUALC?

work in manhattan NY, live in hudson county NJ. why NYers habitually turn up their nose at NJ is STILL a mystery to me. then again, i'm not a native NYer (and i'm damn proud of that fact).

I'd like to go live in NYC for a while but i am too much of teh poor to get my own place.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 01:31 (twenty years ago)

please don't

Jimmy Mod, Man About Towne (ModJ), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 04:03 (twenty years ago)

don't. it's not that great, it smells funny, and the rents are insane. there's a 95% chance you will return to wherever you came from in disgrace within one year, broke and lacking the interesting stories everyone will expect you to have.

i live in new jersey - it's not that great, it smells funny, but i'm not paying $1k a month to live in a broom closet.
