Big Bad 'Murkin Con Artists D/D?

Hello!

I've been away for ages - you've prolly forgotten who I am ;0)

I return with more scandal - it follows me around you see.

I've been conned, big style by an American laydee. I went to work for her, she was a con artist, I didn't get paid - neither did anyone else.

I'm taking her to court - non payment of wages, blah blah blah
as are her other ex-employees.

The reason I'm involving ILX is I need yer advice on legal stuff and pooter stuff and you lot know more than anyone I know IRL. Oh yeah and all the Glasgow folk need warned, obv.

She seems to have obtained copies of emails between me and the other ex-employees - I smell a rat and have, of course, stopped emailing them. She's threatening me with defamation of character - bloody cheek - coz I answered a post on an interweb forum from another American person who was conned by her in the US.

Feel free to laugh and smirk while I go hunt for links to news articles about her etc etc.

Come on! I know its not art of high culture ar WAR or moosic but some sort of feedback would be greatly appreciated...sheesh I've not been gone THAT long....

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Smee! Have you done this?

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course. There's this girl who has was more evidence than me (and more guts too) who is emailing anyone who will listen.

She (the Con wummin) just kept giving us excuses when no wages showed up, I challenged her, she sacked me. The rest of the staff stayed for another month! One of them lost their house coz they didn't pay the rent ;0(

She phoned my new job, the HR director and said I was waging a hate campaing from my desk. Luckily he saw the funny side. Witch. I ought to picket her office!!!!!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

this is weird.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

With me always comes the weirdness, no?

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

This is terrible smee, good luck in bringing this horrible individual to people's attention. I'm going to email my sister, who lives in Glasgow, w/your links.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You should - this woman is living off of other folks money and has been getting away with it for far too long.

I feel like such a fool - but she is VERY good at what she does, and very convincing.

I checked her out at companies house before I took the job, I made sure the agency (a big, well known agency) had credit checked her etc.

She owes them 21k - they are taking her to court too.

She's still advertising for staff!!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Kick her arse, Smee. Can't you get her arrested?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I was going to say that's a freefone number so you could get her back by calling it a few times for an hour at a time, but if she's not paying BT's bills...

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. Technically she hasn't done anything illegal - yet. She just set up a business, hired staff, equiped an office, had it decorated etc etc and then closed it without paying out a penny. She's trading under a different name now.

We're taking her to Tribunal but we still have to enforce any decree made, which will probably prove impossible going by the links above....

Xpost - she's not.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

So it's not illegal to promise people money and then refuse to pay them? Are you sure?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you know where she lives? Pay a gang of tough street kids to rough her up.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't you get someone to h4x0r her site?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Is she ripping off customers as well as employees?

(I tried mailing you about this but yer address doesn't seem to work - any chance you could email me as I might be in a position to spread the word on this one a bit - depending)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll just reactivate my hotmail address - been a while....

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Grrr. Good luck with taking her to court smee - what a nasty thing to happen. Have you got another (real) job now?

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks. It's awful, think of it, who do you know that can afford to just go without a couple of months wages?
She actually said to one of the others "I mean, it's not like you are starving or homeless"

My hotmail should work now Matt.

This woman needs to be stopped but please be carefull - she found out where I am working now (I was really lucky and managed to get a new job quite quickly, the others didn't have as much luck)and phoned the HR director. I got a letter from her lawyer threatening a defamation suit.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

So she's paying her lawyer then? Wow, what a set of priorities.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I doubt she's paid him yet - I sent him a scathing letter after the defamation threat at the end I wrote "I wish you the best of luck in obtaining your fee from Mrs X"

She's living in a 705k penthouse in the centre of Glasgow!!!

Oh and Barry - she hasn't actually refused to pay - she kept coming up with increasingly bizarre excuses then announced the business had folded...

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

That should say 750k....not that it makes much difference, I'm still skint....

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

don't worry--with the depreciation of her penthouse, she will soon be worth nothing.

I guess that means that there's no point taking her to court, though.

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks RJG, that's cheered me up - house prices in Glasgow are set to slump any day now......

I bumped into her one day on George Square, quite by accident - I was so gobsmacked at seeing her all I could manage was to say hello in my sarciest voice. Next thing I know she's telling folk I'm stalking her!!!!!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

it was just because I'd read £750k, on one of your craigslist links.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You should find a way to get her deported. Preferably to some place like Wyoming.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh, I see. Some things never change RJG...;0)

xpost I wish I could do something, not being able to do anything is the worst part!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Stalk here again. seriously. Make her feel really uncomfortable. Just stay with her wherever she goes and tell her you're not going to leave her alone until you get your money.

Suggest she can give you her watch, her shoes, her car keys as part payment.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay I've mailed you.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell her your going to take her to the cleaners, then show up outside her house in a car with a sign bearing the name of the closest drycleaning place to her home.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Suggest she can give you her penthouse.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

kick her in the pie.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I am Dan Perry and I approve of RJG's advice.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Go up to her penthouse and say, "Listen hen, I might be oan tae plums but your tea's oot"

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah'm no feedin her....she's eaten enough, trust me!

She's very good at threatening legal action and my legal advisor is of the opinion I should just keep a low profile.

It's killin me that she can send me threatening letters and defame me to anyone who will listen and I can't do a damn thing!!!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG and Dan - what, right in the Shareen Nanjiani?

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, exactly!

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Got your email Matt, thanx.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think her lawsuit is just a scare tactic, and she won't follow through with it. But also, your lawsuit is probably a lost cause, and you should just get on with life. Hopefully, some other nutjob that she's fucked over will set her on fire. You can laugh then...

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I know Dave but could you let go of 2 months wages?!At least I cottoned on soon enough to get something else sharpish...some of the others are owed 3 times as much as me.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

(anyone else amazed we don't have a Big Bad Merkin Con Artists thread by now?)

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone know if it's possible to hack into someones hotmail account? And if so is there anyway of knowing/proving it?

smee (smee), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
She were in the Daily Record - huzzah!
