Fondo Templi Cheesyentis

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:12 (twenty years ago)

Oooh yes nutmeg and tabasco would give it a nice bite.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:12 (twenty years ago)

whole nutmegs that you dip in.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:13 (twenty years ago)

That would get you higher than a high ranking fondue mason. A Grand Cheezier.

Garlic gently fried off in the pot before the cheese is added, and a splish of brandy just before digging in. Ahhhh cheese.

OMG Liz, that sounds great!! We got a fondue set fro Christmas & have yet to use it. It's totally Abigail's Party, I love it!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 9 September 2004 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah baby. My sister gave me a sexy stainless steel Typhoon set last year. We've only used it once, as it kind of puts you off cheese for a while afterwards. Should do a chocolate fondue as autumn sets in though.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 9 September 2004 08:32 (twenty years ago)

mmmm, chocolate fondue sounds perfect!

The best fondue is a steak fondue - heat oil in pan, when hot enough transfer to fondue set, then stick in your lumps of fillet steak, which you can cook to your own personal preference. yum!

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 9 September 2004 12:01 (twenty years ago)

Yes!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 9 September 2004 12:12 (twenty years ago)

Is the fondue part a sauce for the steak, which you sort of dip in and cook in the hot oil?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 10 September 2004 03:00 (twenty years ago)

nope, it's just hot oil which you dip your raw steak into, and then mustard, good bread, and whatever else you want on the side for your steak afterwards.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 10 September 2004 07:04 (twenty years ago)

alright!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 10 September 2004 07:49 (twenty years ago)

I should point out the obvious, that you cut the steak up into chunks, rather than wacking the whole thing in! about 2cm cubes, using the fondue sticks.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 10 September 2004 07:57 (twenty years ago)

Oh god it's so good! Good fillet steak deep fried for about 20 seconds max, no salt, no sauce, nothing, is the single most delicious taste in the world.

How does a steak fondue work?

I don't think I've had cheese fondue since my eighteenth birthday party. I had chocolate fondue with a selection of marshmallows, cherries and profiteroles a couple of months ago - my teeth nearly leapt out of my mouth in protest.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 27 January 2006 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

you get the oil hot and dip the steak in the oil to cook it to your preference.

two years pass...

We're attempting a cheese fondue tonight --1/2 lb Gruyere, 1/2 lb Emmental. Big fuck-off Baguette!

Alex in NYC, Saturday, 23 February 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

Throw a bit of white wine in there, too.

kate78, Saturday, 23 February 2008 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

Oh yes.

Alex in NYC, Saturday, 23 February 2008 22:47 (seventeen years ago)

For those keeping score, it was lovelly but 1/2 lb of each of those cheese was BARELY ENOUGH to sustain both of us.
