You mean the one they filmed with the fanclub members and all the bubbles? Yup. Though I thought it was going to appear on the DVD...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, i know someone in it, we both want to see it, but neither of us have DVD

YOUR OWN PROBLEM, then. I suspect a fan site has it posted somewhere, you might have to scrounge.

Wouldn't the solution be to find a friend who had a DVD player? Don't Macs come standard with them now? Find a friend with a Mac (OK, but try to look past the Mac user thing when you become friends with them) and voila!

Most PCs come with them now as well.

Except my PC, it's steam powered.

I need to figure out a way to make my dvd player multiregion so I can get the futurama, angel and swide dvds. Anyone know how to do this?

Nicole, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If you coat the DVD's in marmite it'll play UK ones. For Australian ones Vegemite does the same job. Something to do with the optical ethers in the yeast - go figure.

Pete, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's not very duran advice, Ptee.

Nicole, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

get a PS2 and a multi region disk and it'll play them all. Maybe you can get a similar disk for standard dvd players? or do you get them chipped? I have no idea.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You can currently get a multiregion DVD player from Amazon UK for £150. Mine arrived this morning, and it's grand.

RickyT, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've seen a decent multi-region for £110 at Richer Sounds - not sure if it has Dolby Peanut Butter stereo though.

Pete, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Aren't some of the newer DVDs wise to this multiregion madness and are now encoded in such a way that they can recognise a multiregional player and refuse to play in it? I heard that for these you have to get a 'no-region' player to trick it again or something. I may have dreamed this.

N., Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Aye, but there is a hack on mine that can make it look like a fixed region player if need be.

RickyT, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes but it's too late for me because I bought a cheap dvd player ages ago. I thought there was a way you could program it to "de-region" it but I might be mistaken.

Nicole, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There might well be, but I get the idea that it very much depends on the particular model. I'd guess grepping around in googles usenet archives for your particular model would be the best bet.
