Will I Get A Beatdown If I Start A Thread About The Kissing TIme?

Just to stop me from hijacking Rob's FAP thread. I'm terrified that I'm going to get a beatdown (with trucker hats) for this, but hey, if it's OK for Rocktor C to do it, then I guess it's OK for me.

I'm playing in this band called The Kissing Time now.

We're playing some gigs soon, one in Brixton and one in Liverpool. (I'm not sure if we have any ILX0rs in Liverpool, but it can't hurt.)

It would be really really nice if anyone wanted to come along and see us and cheer us on (or throw rotten tomatoes or dirty dronerock boys, whatever) coz it's been a long time since I played a gig, and I'm scared.

Monday, 18th October at the Brixton Windmill (Blenheim Gardens)
Tuesday 19th October at the Cavern, Liverpool (part of the IPO Festival)

I'll post a link to some of our MP3s if you feel like listening to us, we're textural 12-stringy jingle-jangle with pretty girly girl 4-part harmony.

Now please don't beat me for starting this thread. I'm sure it will degenerate into talking about trucker hats and grudgef*cking dirty rock boys soon enough.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 09:54 (twenty years ago)

We are CanCon, BTW, just so you know. If that sort of thing is important to you.

Also, Stevem, would you mind putting something in the FAP calendar because I don't know how to do that.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 09:56 (twenty years ago)

hmm. it's a birthday that day, but he's arriving back from australia, so dunno if he'll want to do something. i'll come if i can! sounds fun.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Well, bring your birthday pal along, if he fancies.

I'm kinda scared. I'm cutting a TEST to play this gig and all, coz Monday nights are my course. Oh my. What's more important to me? Maths vs. ROCK'N'ROLL, FITE!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 09:59 (twenty years ago)

ooh, can you make it up?

you're such a badass!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 09:59 (twenty years ago)

I think I will be made to take the test early. Sigh. It's maths, though, so it's easy peasy, not a problem.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:00 (twenty years ago)

(i keep thinking this is a thread about the kissing GAME)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:01 (twenty years ago)

Nothing to do with the Kissing Game. Though you should probably try playing the Kissing Game with Pete, it's been a while since he got any action. In fact, PLEASE play the kissing game with Pete because I'm going to beat him to a bloody pulp soon otherwise...

(I didn't just say that, did I?)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:03 (twenty years ago)

erm, what's the kissing game?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:10 (twenty years ago)

NO, NO, NO, please, don't start discussing the kissing game on the Kissing Time thread. I'm just trying to encourage Colette to snog our pianist because it's been ages since he got any action, and it's making him irritating. (When he finds this thread, he is going to murder me.)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:12 (twenty years ago)

i avoid kissing boys in bands these days.

thank god for ed, i felt like ilx was just a complicated kate/colette chatroom today...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:14 (twenty years ago)

But... but... Pop Stars Good! Real Boys Bad!

Oh wait, except none of us are actually pop stars yet ever which makes him a real boy, and therefore bad.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:16 (twenty years ago)

thank something or other for my puritanical naivity or something

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:17 (twenty years ago)

But it's been discussed on FAP threads and stuff, Ed...

(Or was it on crush threads or dating threads or other things that you don't read?)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:18 (twenty years ago)

is he my type?

(if you really want to know, ed, i can find you the thread where it's all explained)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:19 (twenty years ago)

I don't actually think so, Colette. I'm just teasing. ;-)

(Or trying to deflect actual tension, coz if I mock him online, then maybe I won't punch him IRL.)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:20 (twenty years ago)

Kate, it's wicked that you're playing live again. Hope you have a blast!

(Ed, you'll enjoy me Barrying all over the kissing game thread)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:20 (twenty years ago)

But... but... I'm scared! The last couple of gigs that I ever played were utter DISASTERS, so I didn't do it for a long time. I thought it would be different if I just played in a band with a bunch of mates, no pressure, etc.

It will probably be fun. So long as I manage not to FITE! with Peter. It's been a long time since I actually punched/sacked/pulled a gun on a bandmate onstage. This is why I've been only playing with girls (apart from Matthew, who is a drummer and therefore doesn't count, according to the rules of girlgroups) for the past five years or so. Boys in bands are just too much trouble.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:23 (twenty years ago)

(It's so not fair, now all the gay boy anal sex chatter is happening back on the other thread.)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:26 (twenty years ago)

I will come to Brixton. We played there a month ago at something called the Unpeeled Xmas picnic(actually *I* didn't - I was on hols, so they did it keyboardless) and the soundman was a bit of a dickhead, so I'm told. But wait....didn't you say you have yr own sound-geezer? So no probs then.

Dr.C, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:56 (twenty years ago)

Who did the sound? Was it the Captain, or was it Tim?

The Captain is a NUT!!! But that's half the fun of playing there.

I remember when you were going to play the Windmill, because I would have come out for that, honest, seeing as how close it is to my house, so I was disappointed that you weren't going to be there. Blah.

But I will be very glad for the support if you come down!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 10:58 (twenty years ago)

I don't know who did the sound - I will ask the others. They asked us back, but I don't think anyone's keen to do it. I think we'll play at the Bull and Gate one Sat soonish, so I'll be trying to get a big ILX posse to come. Maybe it will happen! We just had to cancel a gig in Manchester because the singer has work commitments! Bah! Nothing a sickie won't fix. Anyway, sorry I'm derailing this - it's abt your band, not mine. Looking forward to it!

Dr.C, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 11:03 (twenty years ago)

You can talk about your band, too! That way I will feel less self conscious about talking about mine.

Let me know about the B&G one, one of these days you *will* play on a night where I don't have to rehearse or something (now I no longer have an annoying boyfriend to row and stop me going to gigs).

I think we were supposed to play a B&G gig, but we ended up having to cancel it because it would have meant 3 gigs in a week, argh!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 11:06 (twenty years ago)

We were on a real roll with gigs and we've now had to drop out of Birmingham, Manchester and Leicester on the Nightingales tour because of various work commitments that people have. It's a bugger. Our next one is in Shrewsbury with The 'Gales in 2 weeks time (Friday 1st Oct). Still at least we're getting asked to do stuff all the time, which is heartening.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 11:12 (twenty years ago)

Argh, now I've just been told that this gig is "unconfirmed" and gosh golly, there's nothing on their website for October at all, so I've no idea if it's on or not... ARGH!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 11:51 (twenty years ago)

Wait, no, it is confirmed, we just don't know for certain who we're playing with, or what time we're playing. Looks like it *is* free, though. Free is good!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 11:59 (twenty years ago)

Kate, it'll be a pleasure to see you playing out/up again. See you in Brixton if not before...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 12:05 (twenty years ago)

I wish to hear this rock and roll.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 12:06 (twenty years ago)

Cheers, Chuck!

Ned, have you downloaded our MP3s?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 12:07 (twenty years ago)

Not yet. Where are they?

If nobody shags Peter, I'm going to have to do it. And I'd really rather not. However, I will Take One For The Team, 'cause that's the kinda gal I am.

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 16 September 2004 00:24 (twenty years ago)

Thursday, 18 November. Bull and Gate. 10:15 pm. £4 with flyer. Playing with Speedway and Drums Over Heaven.

Catty (Catty), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:22 (twenty years ago)

Whoa, that's like, confirmed now and stuff? When did that happen?

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:26 (twenty years ago)

yay! that means i don't have to go to brixton again!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:29 (twenty years ago)

Hooray, glad this is happening! Would love to come along, but I fear a monday night in london, with no holiday left for the next day, hmm could prove tricky. Don't be scared, aint nothing to it, but to do it!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:31 (twenty years ago)

We'll just have to come and play in Cambridge, then, PinX0r!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:32 (twenty years ago)

Cambridge, eh? Doubt any of us would have a problem with that. The £1 bus goes to Cambridge, right?

Catty (Catty), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:36 (twenty years ago)

We can play at the Portland Arms! I love the Portland!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:37 (twenty years ago)

Damn having moved to the sticks. Pls come to Cambridge ladeez!! We can eat in the Rainbow Cafe again K!!!
And of course y'all can stay over & play with the kitties!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:38 (twenty years ago)

YAY! Kitties!

Catty (Catty), Friday, 17 September 2004 12:41 (twenty years ago)

If I should happen to be out drinking in Liverpool on the 19th (which, as it's my birthday is a distinct possibility) I may well stick me head round the door. If only it wasn't the cavern though...

Matt (Matt), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:04 (twenty years ago)

You should play in Wisconsin, Kate.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:16 (twenty years ago)

Wisconsin = SEX HOURS OF CHEESE!!!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago)

I don't know what that means, but it sounds absolutely correct.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:21 (twenty years ago)

I should be able to make this, I think.

(Blimey I can't believe we're organising social events for November already. We'll be starting the Christmas party thread before we know it)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:22 (twenty years ago)

I can't remember what it means... I think it had something to do driving from... Chicago to Minneapolis? And you had to go through Wisconsin to get there? And someone was trying to convince us to make the trip, knowing how much I liked cheese, by saying it was Six Hours of Cheese, but they made a freudian slip?

But it is now burned into my brain. Wisconsin = SEX HOURS OF CHEESE!!!

x-post, we SHOULD actually schedule the Xmas part round about now, because that way we will get in ahead of the conflicts!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago)

I will try v hard to make the Brixton gig. That is the day after my birthday so chances are I shall be in London anyway.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 18 September 2004 15:08 (twenty years ago)

Ah, The Kissing Time? What kind of girlie name is that? I bet it's wibbling twee rubbish!

Fuck off when you've got a real band, you devious jailbait chasing degenerate crackwhore!

trolly troll troll, Saturday, 18 September 2004 17:12 (twenty years ago)

*ignores above idiocy, listens to mp3s*

Hey, these songs are very nice! *merry* Is it wrong to say I'm thinking a bit of Lush in their quieter moments?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 18 September 2004 17:15 (twenty years ago)

Aww! Cheers for the fill in matt. I need to get a cd from kate!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 5 November 2004 09:34 (twenty years ago)

Aw, thanks, Matt. That is making me feel a lot better about last night. I was really depressed until I read your post, and now I feel a bit happier.

I mean, all in all, it wasn't that bad. There were a lot of obstacles, but I think we overcame them.

First off, our singer FELL OFF A BUS on the way to the gig, and, props to her, performed with bandaged hands and a mild concussion. But it meant no trumpet. Next, we can't run our keyboards through the soundboard. So I'm reduced to running sequences and Freaky Dancing for half the songs. Next, we find out that even though we've brought extra mics, they have the wrong kind of input, so there's 3 mics for 4 people, one of whom is sitting down. Ah well, as I said, if there's not gay pr0n about us on the internet by tomorrow, I'll be disappointed. (I'm also disappointed that Ruth called Carl, so Cat and I had to trade off being Pete for the night.)

Oh yeah, speaking of which, jeez. What a mad place. The most uptight bar manager and the most laidback soundman in the world. They would have been a hillarious team if it wasn't so shambolic. The night is called "Don't Forget Yer Bass Amp" but they have both a bass amp and a guitar amp, which no one has bothered telling us, so there are way too many amps as everyone has brought one. So we're told that we have to store our extra amps and guitar cases "on the landing upstairs". I drag my stuff upstairs, and realise it's the entry of a house. And just as I'm grilling the manager going "Whose house is this? How many people live here? I'm from New York, I'm paranoid, those fuckers will steal anything that isn't nailed down, amps, cases, elections..." right then, I see A Junkie slithering up the stairs. (on reflection, I don't think it was actually him. Too tall.) OK, great. Our spare stuff goes in a cab back to Slantytown.

Anyway... despite all that, I think we pulled off an OK show. It's just kinda really disheartening when you're sitting waiting to go on and there's NO ONE there. Cat and I were all "fuck this, let's go next door and maybe just maybe we'll come back to find the club full of our friends." Which, luckily, it was. Phew.

Ruth and I waltzed. I danced like Bez. Peter fell off the stage. Poor Ruth; I tried to snog her at the end of Just Like Heaven, forgetting that she had a broken face. (That's the only song I can think of that fits yer description, Matt.)

Anyway, massive props to those of you that made it out, props to you that tried (aw, sorry, Dr. C, that really suX0rs with the trains) and, well... hopefully the B&G will be better.

Two-Headed Zombie With No Face (kate), Friday, 5 November 2004 11:31 (twenty years ago)

Oh, yeah. Nearly forgot.

WHAT'S BROWN IN BETHNAL GREEN?!?!?

Two-Headed Zombie With No Face (kate), Friday, 5 November 2004 11:34 (twenty years ago)

Man I wanna come to one of these gigs to support you guys! :-(

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 5 November 2004 11:45 (twenty years ago)

Aaaawwww, we would love you to come! You would have a good time. I would make you get up on the stage to participate in the Freaky Waltzing.

Two-Headed Zombie With No Face (kate), Friday, 5 November 2004 11:48 (twenty years ago)

I don't know, what is brown in Bethnal Green?

(I'm going to regret asking this).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 November 2004 12:09 (twenty years ago)

I would love to freaky waltz with you guys!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 5 November 2004 12:17 (twenty years ago)

I am so pissed off I missed this

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 5 November 2004 13:39 (twenty years ago)

What's brown in Bethnal Green? The man on the stairs, I think.

::lays finger aside nose::

Errr... I don't know. We don't have a "what's brown in Bethnal Green" yet. Need to come up wtih one, quick!

Two-Headed Zombie With No Face (kate), Friday, 5 November 2004 15:21 (twenty years ago)

"about ten quid a bag"

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 5 November 2004 15:25 (twenty years ago)

BWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!

Chuck just won.

Two-Headed Zombie With No Face (kate), Friday, 5 November 2004 15:27 (twenty years ago)

well, we know what's brown in Smackney. And cheers to those who made it -- it was so nice meeting Matt DC, whom I have been Friends with for a while.

That stage was so weird. The swirly lights were pretty and everything but I couldn't see shit. The brightest light in the room was the one over the bar. And as for sound -- I'm singing right next to Carl I mean Ruthie and I can't even hear her -- not through the monitors, not in my ear, nothing. I couldn't hear my bass either even though I was standing in front of the amp (I could feel it though) -- I kept staring at my fretboard to make sure I was in the right place.
And sharing mics kinda sucked 'cause it meant I had to actually turn my back on the audience and I really don't want my ASS to be part of the show.
But I think we were okay for a band that like to fall down a lot. ;)

Catty (Catty), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:36 (twenty years ago)

Catty (Catty), Sunday, 7 November 2004 23:28 (twenty years ago)

What's brown in Kentish Town?

Masonic Laundry Boom (kate), Monday, 8 November 2004 11:21 (twenty years ago)

So this is tomorrow I guess. I feel panicked right now.

I've been disappointed that people haven't come to the last few shows, so now that all these people are telling me that they are coming to *this* show I feel pressure to be something actually organised other than the usual Heartbreaking Work Of Shambolic Genius.

Sorry, I know I'm not allowed to use the word "shambolic" as Peter has put the ix-nay on it (ramshackle, my ass!) which means perhaps I should put it on a T-shirt to annoy him.

Anyway, I'll be coming from my job interview so I may be in a bloody suit.

I'm suffering from crisis of confidence and wondering "what am I doing in this band anyway?" at the moment (due to unrelated things) and if this gig isn't fun, then it may end up being my last with the band.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 11:54 (twenty years ago)

Oh no Kate! What's up?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 12:12 (twenty years ago)

Stick with it! Rock and rolls needs Kate.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 12:20 (twenty years ago)

what time will you be on stage, kate? i'll definitely be there as long as it's not like 7 o'clock (i'm giving a talk in oxford until six, i think).

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 13:23 (twenty years ago)

I am coming. really i am. even though i missed the gig right outside my house, i'm coming to the one miles away (and, it must be said, close to t'other half's abode). woo.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 13:44 (twenty years ago)

I can't make this unfortunately as I've got other plans for tomorrow. Please don't leave the band though, because then I'll never get to see the full trumpet-enhanced non-Kate-as-Bez version and that will make me sad.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 14:30 (twenty years ago)

I'm sticking with Rock'N'Roll, I'm just not sure that this band is the one for me. Stupid band politics shite is interfering with my friendships, and that makes me feel uncomfortable. And I'm just not sure that I love the genre we seem to be in enough to justify the amount of work we will have to put in. I just don't want to be in a jangly indie band. I want to be in a girlpop band or an artrockdronepop band and I'm not sure there's enough of either of those things in it.

Anyway, I probably shouldn't be writing this stuff somewhere that my bassist will read it, but I don't think they're unaware of my concerns anyway.

I don't know what time we're on, as usual. I'm thinking 9-ish. it won't be before 8, that is for sure.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:23 (twenty years ago)

Plus, Darren just said that Morrissey solo was better than The Smiths, and that The Smiths arrangements were shit because they had guitar solos.

Fair enough, he might have a point that The Smiths are overrated, for many, many reasons. but their having GUITAR SOLOS is not one of them.

I have actually just handed in my notice over this.

this is a fucking bloke who will listen to the fucking Las, but thinks the Smiths are overrated because they had guitar solos. I have quit.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:39 (twenty years ago)

Was he trying to wind you up?

Michael White (Hereward), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:42 (twenty years ago)

I asked him that and he said no. I think he actually believes it.

I asked him if he burned out on the Smiths, because that I could understand, like all of us who listened to the Smiths so much when we were teens that we became disenchanted and couldn't do it any more. But no, he never cared that much for them.

It's not a wind-up. Like, what is the POINT of being in a shit jangly indie band if you don't want to be The Smiths? i don't get it. I don't even *like* shit jangly indie bands, but I put up with it because I love the Smiths.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:46 (twenty years ago)

I'm moving there and we're starting a girlpopartrockdrone band.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:20 (twenty years ago)

girlart popdrone

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:24 (twenty years ago)

I think "popgirl artdrone" sounds better. Or maybe just "popgirl drone".

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:30 (twenty years ago)

I don't really care about the popdrone, I just like the girlart.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:31 (twenty years ago)

So is this yr last gig with TKT, Kate? That's a real shame if so.

Stay and subtly move them in a direction you want, is what I say. The Smiths thing is mentalism, but does it really matter?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 10:02 (twenty years ago)

Popgirl Artdrone would be freaking GRATE!!! because it sounds very Warholian, which is always a good thing. Pop Girl '04, oh yeah!

Talked to Catty for quite some time after rehearsal when Smiths-Hater was at the supermarket and it's not like my concerns aren't shared by other people in the band. There is a very distinct split in the musical tastes in the band and I don't think it's ever going to resolve itself. There has been some preliminary discussion of the band actually splitting into two, but who knows.

I mean, there's always been a split in tastes, and I never thought this would be a permanent situation. I've always felt like I was filling in a friend's band, rather than this being *my* band. If it were something that I could just turn up and play, fair enough, but it needs a lot more work and effort and input than that.

It's just that I want to balance that girlpop element with something a lot more interesting than stupid hackneyed (heh) indie jangle. (Yeah, the Smiths thing is a red herring, but it's more like the straw that broke the camel's back.)

Anyway, we shall see what happens tonight...

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Thursday, 18 November 2004 11:23 (twenty years ago)

Hmm, I see. The split-tastes thing is always difficult, but actually I think it can make for a more interesting band if a way can be found to accomodate them. The problem is if *your* taste isn't getting much airtime.

TKT : "Hmm, this song could do with a little bit of something different for the middle eight. Any ideas, anyone?"

Kate : "Let me see... Try THIS.(fiddles with FX pedals) : SCREEEEEEEE! WAAAAHHHHH! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!....(infinite drone noises)

Eleven Minutes passes, final noises die way.

Kate : "How was that? Maybe a stick some 4-part harmonies on between 7 and 8 minutes?"

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 12:07 (twenty years ago)

If you don't feel like it's *your* band (and I don't think you mean *your* band as in MYSONGSONLYMYIDEASONLY, but more of *your* band as in "I have something invested in it and I care") then start another band that you can love being in!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 18 November 2004 14:46 (twenty years ago)

(with me)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 18 November 2004 14:46 (twenty years ago)

(or without if you'd like to get on with things soonish)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 18 November 2004 14:46 (twenty years ago)

It's just that I want to balance that girlpop element with something a lot more interesting than stupid hackneyed (heh) indie jangle.

Maybe you should balance it with stupid hackneyed indie jungle.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:06 (twenty years ago)

Hey! That's my schtick!

Bernard the Butler (Lynskey), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:19 (twenty years ago)

the stupid hackneyed indie jingle jangle jungle goes on at 10:15 for those of you interested in catching this soap opera live.

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:43 (twenty years ago)

more of *your* band as in "I have something invested in it and I care")

That's exactly what I mean by "my band". not just "I have something invested in it" but "I get something out of it".

Anyway, I'm done with my stupid crappy job interview. I think I impressed the CEO but intimidated the crap out of everyone else. Argh. He wanted to hire me for another part of the conglomerate that does data analysis. We shall see... i think it may be waaaayyyy too corporate for me, but whatever.

Hackneyed Indie Jungle? that would be great! Lynskey, do you want to start a side project together?

The problem with the split tastes thing is that I'm very good at providing the girlpop element. I'm not so good at providing the artdrone element. I do much better being the pop one in a weird band rather than the weird one in a pop band. I guess I need to be in a band with people whose tastes are more OUT THERE than mine, rather than more conventional than mine.

Oh, I got those cds you sent btw! Thanks a lot!

groovy! glad they arrived in one piece.

Seriously, get back to the UK and we will start an artgirl dronepop band. Oh yeah.

Wholeheartedly seconded! That was a great great show, Kate (and Cat). Please don't quit now, I think it would be a genuine shame. In spite of Darren's (quite funny really) accidental Vicodin OD, and in spite of the lack of drummer - get a drummer! - the songs and lovely lovely three-part harmonies and splendid Cureish guitar lines (yes, and the smashing "Just Like Heaven" cover) shone through. More please!

If anyone's in touch with her could you get her to mail me asap?

Bernard the Butler (Lynskey), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:40 (twenty years ago)

She has to go to a web cafe for internet access. If it's that urgent I can text her for you.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Could you? Just ask her to check her email asap. Cheers.

nine months pass...
Just passing on the info that just landed in my inbox. (n.b. I don't perform with TKT any more, but I will be at this gig if you fancy a pint.)

The Kissing Time plays its last gig at the Pleasure Unit on Tuesday, 11 October 2005.

The entrance fee is £5.00.
Stage Time is 8.40pm.
The venue opens at 6.

The other artists are Model Citizens, The Fray, Jamie West Band, and Mothra.
(MOTHRA, people. Godzilla's nemesis. Genius!)

The Pleasure Unit is located in "beautiful" Bethnal Green at 359 Bethnal Green Road.
Nearest tube is, unsurprisingly, Bethnal Green.
(It is unlikely that Pete Doherty will be in the area in case this is a concern.)

Proper flyers are forthcoming, please stay tuned.

It would be great to have your support at this gig. We ditched the iPod/Matt-in-a-Box for live percussion and have some new songs so it's all quite different from the last time you've seen us.

Hope to see you all there!

Cat, Darren, Peter and Ruth
