Oh fuck. This belongs on ILM.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

So the cover changed from an Elvis tribute to a Gap ad.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

alfalfa romeo (natepatrin), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

it looks like it just bit that kid in the face!

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

if he had and then the townspeople decided to hunt down Faith it would be just like Edward Scissorhands!

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

wow. I just called Faith "it" and "he." It's a female. Yeesh, rude of me.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

No.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't that a rip rig and panic album cover?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex did you get this email too?? I got some email inviting me to a "listening party" for this somewhere on the Bowery, but I don't recognize the address and am frankly a little PEE OH'D about receiving it in my pristine, never-been-spammed, Real Email Address.

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

she still looks like a velociraptor.

x-post

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I was actually considering buying this for Joe for his birthday tomorrow, but then I thought "Nah, he isn't actually worth it."

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The ILM version of this thread is a lot funnier so far.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no... maybe I should check that one out instead. Ach, well.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I t0ss going to buy it. ABBA Gold is on sale for 11.99, which would I want to waste my stinking money on London Calling which is available in every other charity shop for 25 pence anyway and for a good reason, because the Clash can f#ck RIGHT OFF into their tight trousered nether-region of POLYESTER DOOM!

Haha I saw Rip Rig & Panic on my dvd of the Young Ones the other day, they were better than the Clash again then again so is MY MAM.

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, COMMEMORATIVE EDITION? What's there to COMMEMORATE?!

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Starry OTM about ABBA > The Clash

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

And with Abba Gold you get a CD and DVD, what do you get with the Clash?? Probably a DVD as well innit. Well NOT FOR ME, as er, who sang that not for me song? Not SINATRA surely?

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Starry OTM about the Clash period. And I don't even know her Mam.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I just said on the other thread that I would never defend The Clash, but DON'T BRING IN ABBA BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT I HATE ABBA SO MUCH THAT i WILL JUMP IN REGARDLESS, ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever it is, I'm against it. ABBA Gold was finally reissued? UK only or what?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

No, why buy London Calling when this is coming out:

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Kate, I didn't know!

I don't know Aaron, but if you go to the HMV by Bond Street it's 11.99. What, you might be in a different country? Well that's not my fault is it. Haven't you heard? It's all about London Calling! Or in the case of the Clash, London Whinging, or London Wheezing, or what have you.

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think what we're saying is that a commemorative issue of London Calling seems arbitrary and unecessary in todays p!o!p! market, right, fakt fans?

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Come on! "On the route of the 19 bus..." is the greatest opening line of a lyric ever. I'd like to see Abba do some of that.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I just realised there's another thread on ILM about this. Is this the commemorative thread?

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I bought the Pink Fairies' "Never Never Land" and "What a Bunch of Sweeties", as well as Yes' "Going for the One" in Solid Sounds' sale last night for 15 qui for all 3! London Calling? Ha! fukc that reactionary shit!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the ILM one worth me CLICKING AWAY FROM ILE to look at?

I don't think Abba were thinking of the "no 19 bus" when they wrote SUPER-TROUPER, do you?? No, they set their sights higher, and GOOD FOR THEM say I!

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh? You said ABBA Gold had a DVD, it never had one here in the USA so I assumed you meant it was reissued with one.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, I don't know do I! It could have always come with a DVD for all I know, my previous copy was on 25p vinyl and got all scratched up years ago. There is a CD case, it holds Abba Gold on CD with a DVD as the other disc, right? Cor! I don't know about America!! Did Abba even SELL any records in America??

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't actually buy any CDs yesterday. In fact, I bought a DOLL. I got the Barbie Bassplaying Boyfriend doll. He comes with his very own smack habit! It's so cute!

I am *so* regressing.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I have nothing against the Clash or London Calling but that has got to be one of worst cover redesigns I've ever seen.

robster (robster), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i love this album but i won't buy the commemorative version, i'll save my money for something else kthnxbye.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I just checked Amazon.co.uk and ABBA Gold HAS been reissued in UK with a fucking DVD! WE never got that!!! WTF!!!!

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Out since last fucking April even!

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

god this is so TURNING REBELLION INTO MONEY isn't it, kids?

HKM, Friday, 17 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I'll save my money and buy a Burton Suit instead.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh fuck off about the Clash! I want my ABBA Gold reissue!

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck, I missed this as well. The CD (OK, it only duplicates what I've got several times already) and the DVD for £12? < fires up Amazon >

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

you can't tell me you're actually surprised at its po-faced "classy" Vintage-Paperback thingie, what else would they do

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Boy I didn't know I hated abba (their singles appeared with big gaps between, so I never minded them at the time, just played / bought what I did like) until I sat through a tribute act (one of the better ones, no tapes) and realised hey, ElvisCostello/GlenMatlock etc you are all wrong, this is PANTS!)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I just checked... the 3CD version has a price tag of £13.99 at HMV online.

Heck, might as well.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That's not bad, actually.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 September 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Pashmina, do you have 'Kings of Oblivion'? My favorite.
