What's the most ridiculous thing you've ever danced to?

This is sort of a tribute to the handclaps thread, but I can't quite figure out how.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

(the sound of me chewing an orange, just now, must be close to mine)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i think my dancing is far more ridiculous than any of the songs its accompanied.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably nothing, as in silence. Sometimes you just gotta dance a wee bit.

Craig Gilchrist, Friday, 17 September 2004 07:00 (twenty-one years ago)

that song "Popcorn"

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

How would one dance to "Popcorn", exactly? Hm.

I guess the silliest dancing I've ever done was done to The English Beat's "Too Nice To Talk To", but that has little or nothing to do with the actual song itself (and perhaps a lot to do with the spazzed-out way I was dancing to that song).

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! I think I remember dancing once to Def Leppard's "Animal", which in retrospect is a rather shameful thing to have done. *laugh*

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

that song "Poptones"

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the only way to dance to Popcorn is to stiffly alternate putting each shoulder forward and the other one back, on the beat, then swivel at the waist at the same time. t rex arms optional.

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

that song "Poptones"

Hey, if it was good enough for the kids on "American Bandstand".... ;) (Um, you ARE talking about the PiL song, right?)

Ooh, sounds like fun. Must give it a try sometime soon!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, if there's another song called Poptones, let's have it!

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha. Hey, I was just checking to be certain. You know, to make up for my lack of musical knowledge. Can't be too sure if there are other songs out there that share the titles of songs I'm already aware of.

Thanks for inspiring me to listen to that song, BTW.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You dance to popcorn in the same way as you dance to OMD's Electricity I reckon.

Craig Gilchrist, Friday, 17 September 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

The live science show of former Pixies drummer David Lovering :(

DJ Mencap0))), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:53 (twenty-one years ago)

(Not being sarcastic. I'd love it if there was another song called Poptones. Even if it was by Michelle McManus!)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, the other day Emma, her brother and I were in a lift with one of those voices that says "Choose Your Floor", and as we left the lift and heard it say "Choose Your Floor" again, I said "the disco floor!" and did a little John Travolta shuffle. So I danced to a lift. Emma and her brother laughed at me.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

"It Puts The Lotion In The Basket"

Jimmy Mod, Man About Towne (ModJ), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Big Audio Dynamite. Last night. Ha ha, I take full responsibility.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

jungle

gaz (gaz), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you dance like a badger?

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

is bananarama jungle music?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

no, no

gaz (gaz), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

something in the Ballroom at Glastonbury, I'm pretty sure.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 17 September 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

The Sisters Of Mercy *blushes*

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

sisters of mercy is so not a ridiculous thing to dance to.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. It would only be ridiculous if you applauded politely at the end of a song when you were listening to them at home on your own.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Ni..ick!

gaz (gaz), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i once gave my friend peter a lapdance to "high on a hill lived a lonely goatherd" or whatever it is from sound of music. thats about as ridiculous as you get. humping pool tables to "magic what she do" is just everyday where i'm concerned.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 17 September 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I find it extraordinary that I used to rush onto the dancefloor when i heard the beginning of The Whole of the Moon. I think I used to stand still and stare in wide-eyed wonder at the ceiling and move my hands open like a burgeoning flower.

Japanese Giraffe (Japanese Giraffe), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The sound of rain water dripping from an overhang onto an empty plastic water bottle. And I'm talking pelvis-thrusting drop-down booty dance shit. Thank you so very much LSD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

[That was just 4 u, gaz!]

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 September 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"dancing in heaven" by q-feel.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Friday, 17 September 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Crawling on the floor in an impression of "Rock the Cradle of Love"

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 17 September 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Fairly recently I danced "seductively" on the hood of my 1990 Volvo 240 Station Wagon while singing an improv a capella retooling of the Whitesnake hit "Here I Go Again On My Own". I think the lyrics to my version were something like: "that is where I am about to drive/going to the store for some beers and some pie/like a guy who's going shopping at the store/[something something][some girl's name] is a whore".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 17 September 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Sometimes I think the embarassing things I do when drunk have nothing on the things I do sober.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 17 September 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

architecture.

g--ff (gcannon), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The "Star Wars" cantina band.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

pearl jam.

the star wars cantina band is a perfectly WONDERFUL thing to dance to.

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I wish they would get back together and release some new music.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember junior high school dances where the DJ would drop Man Parrish's "Male Stripper" for no apparent reason:

A late-night Adonis
Workin' after hours
Ripples on my chest
Never got a night's rest

I was a male stripper in a go-go bar
I was a male stripper in a go-go bar

Clarence Carter's "Strokin'" was big, too. So I guess it's a tie between those two songs.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

violent stomach spams and illness in the empty barnes and noble bathroom two years ago. after twenty minutes of vomiting, i stood up , dizzy and started skipping around to the muzak

kephm, Friday, 17 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember dances where "Super Freak" would be played, another strange thing to play for 7th graders.
I was getting down with some badass Strauss waltzes in the kitchen the other day while putting dishes away with all the curtains open.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 17 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I am ridiculously in love with you because of this statement. Don't worry, it's platonic.

aimurchie, Friday, 17 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I requested "L.A." by the fall in a club once.. Felt like I had to dance .. turns out, you can't dance to that song.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 17 September 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

whereas, "Free Range"....

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 September 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i once gave my friend peter a lapdance to "high on a hill lived a lonely goatherd" or whatever it is from sound of music.

di wins.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 17 September 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i agree with lauren. that's amazing.

i often dance to silence. this happens in queues, on train platforms, etc. i just realise that i've been dancing without knowing it.

it took me a few weeks to stop dancing ALL THE TIME after the glastonbury/roskilde week.
