Temping Agencies: Search and Destroy

I don't seem to be getting too far in my chosen job options: academic research, press/information officer, librarian, internet researcher. People are starting to talk, I'm feeling the pressure. I am now thinking that I should do some temping. What agencies are good? In the sense that they find you interesting jobs and really short term contracts. I don't really want a long-term temp job. Thanks!

Adecco Oxford St got me something the very same afternoon I went in there. They are of course EVIL. I've ended up doing a long term temp thing but it wasn't at all planned and I could leave whenever I wanted. Speaking of which, CV, where aaaaare you... come to me and be sent off for new applications please...

KP (publishing) 10 Argyll St. London. W1, if you're in the area!
Don't mention my name - they hate me.
take a look in Creative Review - look up Creativerecruitment, they're based around the Spitz.
If you're after quick bucks and don't mind losing your mind, there is LOADs of data entry stuff going around. But it is mindless.

Sigh. I wish I was qualified for anything vaguely interesting.

It took Brook Street three days to find me a job, but they gave me extra training on Word, Excel and Powerpoint during that time so when I did get work, I also got a better rate.

Also, don't be shy about signing up with as many agencies as possible - they're fine with that and are more likely to find you something if they know they've got competition. If you reply "oh, sorry, Office Angels have found me something for the next few days, actually" miraculously gets arses in gear for the following week.
