today's crop of shows (of the ones that i saw) included guest appearances by liza minnelli, dusty springfield, and vivienne westwood!

my father, who is 6'4", dressed as Dame Edna last Halloween, and is planning on doing so again this year and is going all out with the costume. the likeness is so striking I may seek therapy.

My favorite thing at the Dame Edna on Broadway show was when (s)he talked about how steep and precarious the floor was up in the cheap seats and so throughout the show he would look up there and say "Cling on, paupers, cling on!"

That and when he would compare himself to the other shows: "Would Rent do this for you?" "Would Fosse grind to a halt for a child?"

the other day i went and bought a book of stamps. i didn't realise till later that they are THE dame edna stamps mentioned above. they are for important and grave suck-up letters to potential law firm employers. it cracks me up every time i put her giant purple hair on the envelope.
