more american election wonkery, but NOT american presidential election wonkery: let's talk about U.S. CONGRESSIONAL elections

(seriously, now -- although the above point IS serious, too. what do you think kerry's chances are of passing anything w/ a republican congress?)

this daily kos blog post has got me thinking that there may some potential congressional upsets in the making. that is, dems w/ $$$ across the country giving their $$$ to candidates who wouldn't have had a snowcone's chance in hell of winning are now viable (or, in the words of one of the posts, at the very least "go[ing] from a long-shot to an underdog"). or am i totally full of it -- has nothing changed?
