Hello folks. I'm turning 29 on 2nd October and would like to invite you all to join me in sinking a few celebratory pints.

Location: The Swimmer. It's a lovely boozer, we haven't been there in a while and it's near where I live.

Time: 5pm onwards on the day. Might as well take advantage of it being a Saturday and start things early.

Hope to see you there.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah! See you there, badgerboy.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay for Saturday fapping. I'm fairly sure I can do this.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

But but but Pat Sharp (Funhouse) is at Redstar that night!!

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Lixi, what on earth are you talking about?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps Pat Sharp has been bundled up in a parcel as punishment for daring to do a Stooges cover for the Children In Need charity.

Donnye Smyth Ye Quyzze Kydde, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

pat sharp is djing at redstar in camberwell. honestly.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

well you can go there later, unless it's some sort of under 18s show you are hoping to sneak into using your girlish looks...

count me in for pub obv ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Redstar is a horrible, horrible place. I'm sure I will be dying to go there at chucking out time.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Pat Sharp though. Go on.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

C4mpbell, you are a mental.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Has he still got shit hair?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeh, it has occured to me that I probably don't want to go that desperately. However, it is very easy for me to get home from there. I think he got rid of the mullet, although that may have been Neil Buchanan. I watched Art Attack yesterday. He's still got it.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

He got rid of the mullet but there are degrees of shit, aren't there?

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't mean he's still got the mullet. I mean he's still got the ability to make amazing, innovative artworks. Oh yeh.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Redstar in Camberwell worse than Living in Coldharbour Lane?

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say yes.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh blimey. Sorry Alix, you'll have to count me out on this one!

Where's the Swimmer then?

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The Redstar has no pretentions of being remotely trendy though. Living was the grimiest poncey bar I've ever been in.

And at least the toilets work in the Redstar.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Grime out then? Ponciness is.

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub1147.htm

just by the junction of holloway road and seven sisters road.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

But don't let the fact that it's near Holloway Road and Seven Sisters Road put you off - it's nice

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Clearly I will be sending my representative along (ie me) hurrah!!!

Snufkin (hello chickens), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Quite near the Red Rose Club, I see. But hopefully considerably warmer.

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

haha have you been to the red rose club? i walk past it a lot it sounds intriguing. did you check out the comedy?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagine Marcello is referring to the improv stuff at the Red Rose - some of which is comical

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

... that's improv music not improv comedy (what a horrible thing to even contemplate)

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

that's what americans think you mean when you say 'improv'.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

cool. i will be there.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Could someone with the requisite skillz put this on the calender plz?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops. Next time I should check first before asking.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

hehe, ph34r my requisite skees :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

damn, probably won't make this, I'm at the theatre on this day!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(note not performing, but in audience)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I will have had my second eye operation the day before. I'll come along if I feel up to it, but a day after general anaesthetic I may not.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

DRINK SOME FOR MEEEEEEE

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah well!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, I wanna go to this, but then again, I just made vague plans with my bassist to run away to Paris for the weekend. Decisions, decisions!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Paris or Holloway is a tough call, yes.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, we're now arguing about the dates, because it seems that you have to book months in advance and all.. what is the *point* of running away to Paris if you have to book it so far in advance?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Run away to Paris after the FAP. Or just get on a random train and see what happens.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to be back in London on Monday morning! That would give us less than 24 hours in Paris! Which just wouldn't do!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

RickyT, I will be attending your birthday celebrations now! Looks like we're going to Paris on a weekday instead. Hurrah! Everyone wins!

Frappe moi! Fete mal a moi! Je veux etre ton chien!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate, isn't the Eurostar cheaper if you spend the saturday night away?

I'm leaving London on the morning of the third, so I shouldn't really make it a late night, but. Birthday~!

...Rick, is it ginger cake you like best?

cis (cis), Thursday, 23 September 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Cor, ginger cake, yes please!

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 23 September 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

a slight derail but what is the cheapest way to paris? is it by the boat from the clover over dover? (although ryanair are doing *F*R*E*E* planes at the moment! but i guess that's 20 quid airport tax and then train to and from both airports?)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 September 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheapest way is the eurolines coach, but it looks like the most horrible journey ever, so.

cis (cis), Thursday, 23 September 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

how long does it take? (and what's the 2nd cheapest? ;))

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

swim

teh pow! (blueski), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

walk

robster (robster), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

hey 9 hours on the coach isn't bad (going to glasgow takes just as long and i've done it before!) it's strange that the return journey from paris only take 7 hours though!!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

it's cos they're an hour ahead, and one for luck.

teh pow! (blueski), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Going to Paris by coach is nowhere near as bad as Glasgow. You get to walk around a boat and browse Duty Free for an hour!

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't need the one for luck.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

wow that sounds fantastic, then!

does the coach go via dover?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

(i'm really sorry to be using this thread for this.. and i'll be there definitely)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Bump

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Still on then?

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Aye.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

marvy.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

will be arriving pretty late (like after 10pm!) but hopefully be bringing special guest from the us of a.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't look like I'll be able to make this now... have fun kids!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

my kids are going to be fun.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel okay at the moment, though I suspect that the drained and exhausted feeling may hit tomorrow, so I still don't know what my odds are of showing up.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 October 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICKY T! You have exquisite taste.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 2 October 2004 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Yo, Happy Birthday. I'm gonna try and appear, homelife willing.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Saturday, 2 October 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What a marvellous evening. Cheers to everyone who turned up, and apologies to those of you who I didn't get to talk to properly. Some of you will be pleased to know that Duncan Badger is already making himself at home:

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 3 October 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry guv, i had teh achey sniffles. glad you had a good one.

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

*sings God Only Knows to Duncan*

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the 'look I've got the new Archigram 12"' positioning of the photo too. that badger sure loves his French disko :)

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The badger is grebt - who do we have to thank for that one? We have to hook him up with the Tom Ewing owl.

Sorry I couldn't make this - happy belated birthday Rick. Did I miss Barima and Roxy as well?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

No. But yesterday saw not only Emily but also a return to the Swimmer for a furious Scrabble game, in which I pwned everyone. Then Ken & E went off to go out dressed up as chavs for a kebab.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't make it, partly out of business and partly out of exhaustion. I phoned Steve to check what was happening only to find he wasn't out either. My best female friend talked me into going to 333 around midnight, which I regretted, even though I missed her and all. I had an inexplicable attraction to the girls with funny haircuts I saw there (or I'm in "everyone looks good" perma-mode).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Monday, 4 October 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to take back any remarks I made about it being time for an Enya revival - actually listening to (half of) an album has shown me the error of my ways.
