I don't know why this is so hard for you elitists to admit. Maybe you'd understand it better if I said it in European.

(there is something headwimmingly bizarre abt ppl with considerable media power - like bill o'reilly - constantly denouncing the concept of media power) (hypocrisy is the tax vice pays virtue!!)
in the 19th century the bourgeoisie tended to mimic the aristocracy, even as they ousted them, for maximum political heft: in the 20th century, the rest of the middleclasses began to mimic the poor, to regain the political heft they were losing to a variety of mass social movements
*(there's a left AND a right manifestation of this faux outsiderdom (and i suspect all these phrases mark a dim awareness of - and resentment toward - the inherent contradictions therein)**: the right version is currently in the ascendency in the US, though it also shows many signs of coming to pieces: viz as class differentials in income and social potential are exacerbated, in an era of massive debt and declining economic leeway, the right-populist coalition of rich, middle and poor is under increasing strain)
**presence of contradictions = why the phrases have power but lack sense?

People keep telling me that, but I just don't see it. Thanks, though.

that being said i wish most famous "creative" people would shut up about politics. not out of censorship or realpolitik, but just self-censorship, like "millions of people are going to hear the words i have to say, maybe i should read a few good books first". may i advise http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0156309203/qid=1096233659/sr=ka-1/ref=pd_ka_1/102-1311404-7721731
