on ILX i mean. it's like having never been kissed or something. are you waiting desperately for the day someone will actually notice what you say and agree with you? if so i think this should be the thread where you out yourself, post something that is clearly true but perhaps also inspired/profound/deeply wise in an unreceived way so that you can be finally acknowledged to be otm, maybe even otmfm.

(i have, as records will prove, been deemed to be otm on several occasions so this thread is not some kind of bitter reaction rest assured).

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

will people who haven't been OTM need to be OTM to be OTMed here? or will they just be OTMed regardless of whether their attempt at OTM is OTM?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c OTM

JimD (JimD), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

(This is going to get old quickly, btw)

aldo actually OTM

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

this was not how this was supposed to work

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

it was supposed to be so easy

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

will people who haven't been OTM need to be OTM to be OTMed here

yes

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c has been painfully OTM many times on this thread.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

where?

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never been off the money, it's just that no-one has ever given me the OTM seal of approval.

All those threads I supposedly 'killed' have simply been left hanging with an unsaid "Onimo OTM. Lock thread now!" at the end.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

the search goes on

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

In order to properly kill a thread, there must at least be a photo of ASS:

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

It is odd to remember that the popularity of the expression "on the money" on ILx was originally down to The Pinefox.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Danger Whore OTM!

Always the bridesmaid:
Never been OTM -vs- Never been Excelsiored

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

a 'never been excelsiored' thread might be fun, but ONLY if the people who'd NBE got to post something genuinely funny on it.

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread is OTM

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

different thing

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought OTM was "of the moment" for the longest time. It seemed very popist and exciting.

(I have been OTM once, about canadian idol. It made my heart glad).

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

g i thought OTM was "over the moon" for ages

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked it when kate once said I was so OTM the M was filing a sexual harassment suit, or something. That was great!

Archel (Archel), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Somebody once quoted me and said "Correct.". I was so disappointed. So to this day I remain completely OTM (off the money, that is) :(

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

(Thank you, Archel. Though I must admit that I kind of nicked that from Charlie No. 4)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the money you mean?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

If only Charlie had money for me to nick...

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

so this is like a mercy OTM thread? sad, really.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

different thing

Yeah, I know, that was the thread where people do what they had started to do upthread here.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sean OTM

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked it when kate once said I was so OTM the M was filing a sexual harassment suit, or something. That was great!

Archel OTM. I got this once from Kate and it's my favourite OTM. (I think it was in differentiating in pictures C*l*m on TWX and C*l*m on ILX)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

aldo otm

gaz (gaz), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i am still interested (DESPERATELY) in hearing from people who have never been declared otm, or are just wrong all the time (except that guy who sometimes comes round here, you know the one)

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

There are those about who have never even been in the same ROOM as the M, and I'm not sure they should be encouraged.

briania (briania), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Has Momus? (It would cause him to immediately reverse position obv)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I've always read it as "On the Mark".

And I still have no idea what this excelsior business is all about. The threads out there that explain it away only confuse me more. Besides, I've never been much for knights-and-dragons movies.

I wonder if Aja or Nowell have ever been OTMFM.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a strange but little known fact that Ned Raggett has never actually been OTM. He's been NTTM on a couple of occasions, and once even AFFAFTM. But never OTM.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Has AinNYC ever been OTM? I can't explain why, but I'd be surprised if he had.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It's much easier to be OTM than excelsiored. Sigh.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

oh wait mark was kidding

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I've gotten a "lock thread" once and a "that's almost indescribably beautiful" once, but never an OTM. I'm thinking about giving away my computer and putting myself on the curb for the garbagemen to pick up. ILX is like that line in Full Metal Jacket: "You'll fuck a man in the ass, but you won't give him a reach-around."

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i excelsior more than i OTM kate.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't dispute that I'm off the money in most of my posts, it's a fair claim. Unless of course I am discussing any of the GTA games in which case I am never wrong.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I OTM way more than I excelsior. Coz the excelsior thread scares me, but you can OTM any time, any place.

Plus, I get OTMed far more than I ever get excelsiored.

So I guess that means I'm right, but I'm not funny. Sigh.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

on that two weeks board thing i made a resolution to excelsior 5 times a day but it never materialised (i got close once with 4!!)

i vowed to be OTM more often too and that also didn't work out

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

It's much easier to be OTM than excelsiored. Sigh.

Kate OTM. Sometimes when I think I'm being really funny it turns out I'm the only one that thinks so.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

bloody hell! i actually vowed to be OTM at least 50% of the time.. that's every other post! haha.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

on the TwoWeeks board they had the method of ratings posts, i was rated 5 out of 5 on a couple of posts. I guess this was because it was an anonymous system and just a button click process.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I know the sure fire way to get OTMed in any context, with something so universally true that those who fail to OTM it are simply showing there lack of OTM-ness:

GWB == certain doom for us all.

Can't fail.

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Hawaiians get by with Grass Weave Skirts, so I don't see why Grass Weave Belts can't catch on too and certainly don't see why they'd mean certain doom.

the impossible shortest special path! is therefore NOT OTM.

Has Momus?

I got one today, from Eisbar, for an allusion to Nazism which should, by rights, have had people invoking Godwin's Law rather than money. It killed the thread, so I had no need to reverse position.

Momus (Momus), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I have never been OTM, but being OTM is not really that great.

Being on the money means that it is as expected
whereas being out of the money means being worse than expected
And oviously being in the money is exceeding expectations.

I'd rather have the peaks and troughs of being OoTM and ITM.

Davel (Davel), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I would enjoy being OTM at some point, but coming here and asking for it is, i imagine, a bit like visiting a brothel or purchasing a degree from the internet.

Peter Watts (peterw), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Davel is now OTM - thank you!

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i think Peter is also OTM. we're getting somewhere now...

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

hopefully to an internet brothel

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect I would be OTM more if I had a shorter name... Peter OTM with regards to the brothel stuff (xpost)

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

this combination of satisfaction and self-disgust is strangely compelling.

Peter Watts (peterw), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect I would be OTM more if I had a shorter name

i think the impossible shortest special path! may be otm here too - three in a row

teh pow! (blueski), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Respect me now, you bastards

(Although as an extension to what Peter was saying, I'm not sure being OTM on this thread at all counts/I'm not sure I would want it to count.)

tissp! (the impossible shortest specia), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I can say that having a shorter name does not make you more OTM than anyone else.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It might not COUNT. But it is still GOOD. I want MORE.

Peter Watts (peterw), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't I OTM Peter the other day?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I've OTM'd Momus. probably more than once.

oops (Oops), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Sometimes I think Friday afternoon GMT threads are the best of all.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 24 September 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

friday afternoon PMT threads are sometimes the most entertaining

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

and certainly not rare

ken c (ken c), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

They're much better when your boss breaks out random celebratory bottles of wine! Woo! One of my colleagues is lying on the floor!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm so OTM so often, that I want to change my name to "jel otm". Perhaps, I shouldn't post this.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"I've always read it as "On the Mark"."

Me too. I like that reading better. It's snappier. On the Mark is totally OTM.

supercub, Friday, 24 September 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)
