The only ones I can think of are warm apple cider with rum (which is great) and coffee with whiskey (which tastes like paint thinner). Any suggestions?

Also mulled wine - ignore the snobs and buy the packet stuff, a box of cheap Chilean, and snooze the winter away in a warm boozy fug.

posted this on the autumn drinks thread last month, still awesome:
Hot Buttered Rum: 1 ½ oz. Cruzan Single Barrel Rum 2 heaping teaspoons hot buttered rum mix*** Mix ingredients with small amount of hot water in heated coffee mug and stir well with a spoon. Once mixed thoroughly, top off mug with hot water. Serve with a swizzle stick.
***Hot Buttered Rum Mix*** 1 lb. light brown sugar 1/2 lb. salted butter 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice 1 teaspoon high-quality vanilla extract Yields approx. 1 1/2 lbs
(I found this recipe through a search, the one I actually used was similar but called for Mount Gay Eclipse rum. Anything in that range should work.)

Hot Chocolate goes well with whatever liquor you want. Use Droste cocoa and follow the directions on the back of the box, which basically say: "warm up some milk, in a separate bowl mix together cocoa powder, sugar and milk into a paste that is as sweet as you want, whisk this mixture into the warm milk until incorporated, serve in mugs with marshmallows or whipped cream." I just make a cocoa/sugar mixture with liquor such as amaretto, Luxardo, baileys, creme de menthe or chambord and then add it to the warm milk. If I make the mint one I put a candy cane as the stirrer.

I had hot buttered rum for the 1st time on Christmas but it seemed like it had heavy cream in it too. Nearly as filling as eggnog and sneakily potent.

hot buttered rum is great. there was a recipe in NYT recently, and we've been using that, and keeping a jar of the batter in the fridge.
