Hi! So I'm going on vacation for the first time in 18 months! Except weekends in Detroit and Montreal, but those don't really count since they were just for big parties, and I didn't see anything besides clubs, drugs, and hospitals. Anyhow, I'm going Nov 17th until Dec 7th to London, Berlin, and Barcelona, for sure. But I might change my ticket to leave a little earlier and go to either Glasgow, Amsterdam, or Stockholm. In London, I guess I'll go to Trash (do people still go?), Nag Nag Nag, and maybe Fabric. Berlin, Beat Street and Cookies, and maybe I want to keep an eye out for Momus riding a bicycle. Don't know anythiing at all about Barcelona, except that the octopus will be tasty.

Does anyone have suggestions for these places? I like: indiepop parties, techno parties, shopping, cute boys, central asian antiquities, in no particular order. I've been to London a trillion times, but really have only seen Mell Street, KFC, DDR machines, pubs, upstairs at the Garage, and some Track & Field event (do they still have those? i remember one of the T&F guys being way cute), Primrose Hill, and a meal at Wagamama - which was pretty gross. And a conveyer-belt sushi place with a drink-dispensing robot. I'm going to be such a clueless tourist - i think it'll be fun. I think it might be fun to go to club G-A-Y, just to say I've been to a club called GAY.

Also, if you had a choice between Glasgow, Amsterdam, Stockholm, where would you go? Glasgow has Optimo, National Pop League, and cute Scottish boys... Amsterdam has pretty buildings, art museums, and cute Dutch boys... And I guess Stockholm has, um, cute Swedish boys and I dunno, open-faced sandwiches.

And if anyone wants to hang out, that would be fun. Yay, can't wait.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess its more than a month away though. but keep me in mind if something fun is happenning around then.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I would love to go to techno parties in London with you, Phil!

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, wait you didn't ask that. But I still would!

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd just stay in Barcelona the whole time, probably. There should be a couple good Barcelona threads on ILX already.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I was once standing outside the Astoria after a gig, and a man asked me "Are you going to G-A-Y?" I'd never heard of the club, and was very bewildered.

I say Glasgow.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll take you to indie parties in Stockholm if you come! And here is a guide to good places to meed cute Swedish boys: http://www.qx.se/guide/index_eng.php

Hanna (Hanna), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

OK! So you've forgiven/forgotten the time I abandoned you in the pouring rain in NYC outside a jam-packed rapture concert? i swear to god though when i was inside i went up to every english looking guy i could find, "are you greg? greg? is that you?" but alas. i think it was a plan for disaster from the very beginning.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

And "meed" is of course Swedish for vaguely dirty activities.

Hanna (Hanna), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Hanna! I'll click on that link when I get home. I'm at my mom's house, and dont want her to walk by as giant swedish dicks fly across the screen. i'll wait until i get to the privacy of my own bedroom.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha it's just very civil and text only so click ahead!

Hanna (Hanna), Monday, 4 October 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

if i went to stockholm mid-week, would i be bored at night?

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

WAH. Everyone's going on trips but me for a while yet. *jealous* (Not that this helps Phil with his questions.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I will go to London on the 18th. Will you be there then, Phil?

COME BACK TO GLASGOW.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

oh wait, i'll be in London on the 17th'ish for a week, i think! do you know when NPL will be in november?

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the last Friday of the month. So the 26th then.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN RJG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DANCE WITH ME

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
So I finally bought my ticket tonight.

I'll be in Europe from November 19th until December 14th. Flying to/from London. I haven't totally decided where else besides London I'm going, but for sure I'm going to Berlin, and also probably Munster for a few days. Maybe since I'm in the area I might visit Bochum because its home to my favorite football club. Still considering Glasgow, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. But probably not Copenhagen or Stockholm since they're so expensive. So whilst in the UK, if anyone wants to party on these nights, let me know so we can go together. Yay.

Saturday, November 20: Akufen & Andrew Weatherall @ Fabric.
Monday, November 22: Friends are DJ'ing at Trash (Lauren will be there too, I'm thinking)
Friday, November 26: Matt Dear in Glasgow
Saturday, November 27: Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Magda @ Fabric.

Also, I'd like to taste mushy peas. If someone can kindly point me to the best mushy peas in London, I'd be very grateful. And shopping.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

gee, its only a week away. i should start packing

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you like Bochum, phil?

mushy peas are not good, but G-A-Y is good.

adam... (nordicskilla), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i was forced to watch a football match in a hotel room in udom xai, laos - and it was bochum vs. dortmund or whoever it is that wears the bright yellow.. and this bochum was SO BAD that i felt sorry for them and in the end they didn't lose too badly, so i decided that they were going to be my favorite club. they ended up in 5th place last year! so happy

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:42 (twenty-one years ago)

yay phil two is back for the hot wings and jizz

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 07:22 (twenty-one years ago)

2 great places for mushy peas = golden fish bar - Farringdon road (not too far from Fabric and the Haddock there is great)

and Fryers delight on Holborn - who cook their chips in beef dripping.

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

count me in for a little Fryer's Delight - it's high time i tried that place

Fabric vs Teh End - who will win?!

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Phil, Fabric on the 27th is a definite. Somewhat excitingly, there will be FOUR New Yorkers out that night (your good self, Tracer, Geeta and Lauren) and I will feel bohemian and cool.

(There's also Ivan Smagghe and Basteroid that night).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'll be along to Fabric, if I'm in town.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

people in Fabric try so hard. and they get pretty far.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Whereas in The End, it doesn't even matter.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

LinKen Perk

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

too much bRANDY

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

that's amazing

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't do the 27th but I could come along to Trash and if there's any beef dripping in the area then NUM NUM.

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 12 November 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

>Friday, November 26: Matt Dear in Glasgow
I'll step up and step out, althought I may be below your cuteness tolerance level ;-)

Calumn S, Friday, 12 November 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

he'd totally jizz in your hair cal

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! phil!

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 12 November 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken: It's good for the complection, apparently...
phil: It's a pity Optimo's only on on Sundays, but I'mm sure we'll find you something to occupy your time :-)

Calumn S, Friday, 12 November 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

You have missed out the greatest night coming up during that week, Phil! Club Freaky Trigger on Thursday 25th! This would entail zooming up to Glasgow on the Friday morning then coming back on the Saturday - it's a fair old distance, you know - but Club FT (special all female DJ crew!) should be your top priority.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 12 November 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm female DJ crew

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, phil! This is gonna be stupendous.

mmm female DJ crew cuts.

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

has Miss Kittin grown hers back yet?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Phil, I could have hooked you up with pea action in NYC.

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this of any interest to you, phil?

http://www.chickfactor.com/story/news.shtml

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

chickpeafactor?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ah shit, i forgot about club FT. throws wrench into plans. hmm, i guess i could skip matt dear. i mean, i see him like seemingly every 2 weeks anyway, but its a live performance and he's extra cute on stage bopping around and singing. and how often does one get to see tarry and lixi dj? maybe someone wants to have a thanksgiving dinner beforehand.

and then i can go to glasgow later in the trip and go to optimo - like when i went to see dj twitch here in nyc, it was the most fun ive had out in a really long time, and easily the most fun ive ever had at the tribeca grand.

things i want to do during the day:
central asian antiquities at the british museum
maybe take a day trip to the emperor claudius temple
wake up hungover in a stranger's bed with my underwear nowhere to be seen
ddr & kfc with ken
shoplift something from harrods
tate modern
chips cooked in beef drippings (!!)
stalk alexander mcqueen
dimsum in chinatown

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oh shit. chickfactor gala? ugh i might still be in germany on dec 10/11. but pipas!!

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

This could turn into something extraordinary.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

1 EUR = 1.30320 USD
1 GBP = 1.85947 USD

:(

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 18 November 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I know, phil. I know.

adam... (nordicskilla), Thursday, 18 November 2004 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

And the the south korean finance minster has told his country to prepare for $1 = 1050 won

Ed (dali), Thursday, 18 November 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Cookie, did you answer my mail, to your g-mail? I think it may have bounced.

the bluefox, Thursday, 18 November 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes - it said 'delayed'. I will resend.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh. It is a problem with my e-mail maybe?

I think I said that I thought you and I could, for instance, watch a footy match together, on TV, or something, for instance; or one or two other things.

You can call me on my, mobile, when you get in.!

the bellefox, Thursday, 18 November 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.creatrice.com/photos%20de%20mobiles/mobile%20singes.jpg

I hope you all have a fun weekend.

see you soon, phil!

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 18 November 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, that one!

Hey, I can see Accentmonkey on it - I think she's the one on the right.

the bellefox, Thursday, 18 November 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You can call me on my, mobile, when you get in.!

-- the bellefox

does this mean, now, that there is no one left, without a mobile phone? oh, apart from Tom, who gave his to his good lady wife.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Some great comma action here - well done everybody.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Possibly the Pinefox is using a really, really long cable.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

it'd still be mobile though :( (just not wireless)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't believe the Pinefox actually has one of these contraptions.

My friend, John, and possibly my other friend, John, do not have mobile phones. This is about all I can say. It is quite frustrating sometimes.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

yay, im packing now.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 18 November 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy packing, phil!

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Good morning! I hate being the one to organise the fun but:

WHO WANTS DIM SUM? Ken Chu and Lauren, please mail Ed at zerointeg@zerointegrity.co.uk (other address playing up) with digits and then we can sort out Phil and that. Also Lauren if you magically hear from me before this, I've had to go out and have rung Tracer for it.

Tomorrow, Sunday, Royal China, Baker Street, best in London and we really need to book this for 2pm at the latest (1pm is also good so shopping in Marylebone/Selfridges can happen after).

Also if anyone is interested I am ROCKING the new black kitten-heeled MANOLO BLAHNIK boots I got yesterday from a fashion historian who freelances for the V&A who just happens to be selling a few things in a guerrilla shop in Old Street. She says my boots are one of a kind/a sample, purchased from the studio itself, and worn twice by her.

suzy (suzy), Saturday, 20 November 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

yay dim sum. im staying at lauren's so i'll ask her to give you a call!

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 20 November 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

we have the numbers, I have emailed mine to lauren.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 21 November 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hey, lauren doesnt have internet at her house. try calling her now so we can make plans. im not there now - just woke up at the great eastern hotel (not what you think), but im at the internet desk here at the business center, so plz tell me where to go!

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

We are still cleaning up but if you can be here 1.30/2 will send Lauren texties NOW.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i cant make any more phone calls from here. so post or email me when you figure things out. im sittin g at the business center and there are people here thinking that i work here and am giving me dirty looks like 'why isnt this guy helping me'.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

oh wait, so lauren just told me whats going on. im getting on the train now so i'll be there soon. warning you though, it got kind of messy last night, and i'm a little of a wreck right now, and i know you only get one chance to make a first impression. so so sorry. plz dont judge.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

ah marvellous. suzy, i care little for shoes, but even i am jealous of your story ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 21 November 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

aw shit i just read this now :\ hope you guys had good dim sum though. i just woke up and had a KFC.

did you guys have the chicken feet?

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 21 November 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Our dim sum was oooo-kay; we went to Gerrard Street and went to this place that had gone WEDDINGCORE for the day. Great dim sum but a) they stuck us in Whitey Siberia even with Phil and b) the waitrons were even better than usual at averting eyes for crucial PLEASE BRING MY BILL action for half an hour. We were so cross it was like NO TIP SUCKAH.

Phil = teh bomb and I am still drunk from going to George and Dragon and meeting H3di Slim4n3. Argh.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 22 November 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Heidi Slimline, heiress to the Schweppes trillions?

It was lovely to see Phil again, if only briefly.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he's the head designer for Dior, dahlink. We went drinking at the G&D to give Phil a dose of fab-o-los after dim sum and sinking a whole bottle of neat Moskovskaya with Ally C, Lauren and Ed (who begged off due to finishing the cleaning but crawled away to bed due to aforementioned neat fozen vodka). I may still be drunk and my heart goes out to the Austrian artphag who rolled me a massive J for the road.

Tonight we reconvene for serious clubbing. This is good. These sharp kids 10 years younger than me have caused me to raise my game.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

who will break first: suzy or the kids? i know who my money's on ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, Dior. I remember when they just did TV rentals. I have no game to raise so I try to avoid the field of play thesedays. I'm glad Phil was shown the icy, glittery wafer that runs beneath Londing's grimy oak-barrel surface. Or so I'm told.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

aw man that sounded so fun. i'm sorry i missed it. i'm also surprised by the eyes averting of the waitrons... whenever I go they're dying to get rid of me and ask if I've finished every 5 minutes! (I must smell!)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i got to see the famous human league mug, and a picture of suzy circa 1985 giving lloyd cole bunny ears!!

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

who will break first: suzy or the kids? i know who my money's on ;)

ha! i just got 12 hours of sleep, so i hope your money's on ME. its 3pm and i just stumbled out of lauren's house. making the most of my time in London, i guess. i suppose i'll just wander around london for a few hours since its probably too late to go to a museum or gallery.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not too late to go to a museum or gallery, most of them are free anyway.

Nice to meet you on Friday, by the way.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

phil, call me at some point so we can coordinate the key situation.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Phil, sorry, struck down by an evil cold and it sounds like Sunday would have finished me off anyway, illness and germs or no. Next time xx

Anna (Anna), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

thats okay Anna. i hope you feel better.

lauren, stacey gave me her keys and is getting a spare set from her sister. what time do you get home?

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not sure. if s. can get keys from jade then things should be cool for now.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

if i see a keymaking place, ill make another set. headed to the british museum i guess. see you later!

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

there is a key cutting place right next to holborn station phil.

(my money's still on suzy though ;))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Phil is like the Ko-Am energizer bunny except when he is sleeping on my sofa.

Suzy is near to having a disco doze and has just returned from getting massaged by friend who is having a practical skils test at a reflexology job interview tomorrow, and has bought new jeans from the Carhartt warehouse for not very much money (it is in a tiny street in Hackney). And the Blahnik, blahnik, blahniks are back from getting metal tips put on. Also have to get together features ideas for friend at H&Q and then I may go to the ball. Not drinking tonight though, massage person has banned me for the week.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 22 November 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Not meeting H*d* Sl*m*an* was almost the third most ezxciting moment of my life.

I can never go home again.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 22 November 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

how was the pie ally?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

He crumbled later.

Does H3di keep telling people off for calling him H3dley?

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Pie good, Steve. I went back for seconds, as Mooro indicates. What a day! Later I am going to drink more and play TRIVIAL PURSUIT. I NEVER STOP!

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i enjoyed your reaction to The Go Team

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I enjoyed your reaction to my reaction. I think.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Somebody call Diana Ross.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone have a spare pedestal?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm catching the 5:30am eurostar to paris tomorrow (friday). but will be back maybe the sunday the 12th or monday the 13th before heading back to new york on the 14th. is there fun tonite? if not, maybe we go to trash on the 13th.

so i think im going to forego partying out with hot germans in cologne, munster, and berlin and instead go to avignon and barcelona. maybe im making a big mistake, but i've never been to provence or spain, and i feel like ive been squandering my holiday by boozing and sleeping. anyways, see you later!
