On explorer? I want a clean slate - I want to scroll down and see nothing.

Heh heh heh.

*ahem* anyway. In the menu: Tools>Internet Options>click on "clear history" button. I think that does it.

And then be careful looking at the pr0n ;)

go up to window, select history, then when it opens, click 'select all' under edit. then delete

Ah. I assumed Windoze IE in Rog's question. Well we've covered both then! ;)

Ugh.. I feel all helpdesk-dirty now *shudder*. The nightmares! Maaarghh.. make them stop...

Mac OS X

applications > explorer > drag to trash

(safari too... it's slow & incredibly unresponsive/system hogging)

:-)

alternatively, there are other (better, faster, more secure) browsers out there! Firefox with the 'x' extension, or Opera (with it's 'delete private data' menu might be worth trying in future.

actually, it isn't porn at all. The computer is WAY too centralized in the house for that.

I'm sure IE used to have a cache, separate from the regular History, of addresses one had actually typed into the address bar. I can't remember how one cleared it. Does that not happen anymore?

Are you OK, Gear?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Alba - it's in tools > internet options > 'content' tab > autocomplete > clear forms

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Why are you using IE anyway?

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:17 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe it's a work computer. lots of us office-types are stuck with IE as default you know :(

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Also make certain to wipe the "Temporary...something something" cache. (There should be a button somewhere near the Clear History button.) Sorry to be a little unspecific there. I haven't used IE for years.

'Temporary Internet Files'.

You can also set 'days to keep pages in history' to '0'.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Tis what I have done on my work Mac.
