Extracurricular activities! Or, if you're out of school, hobbies that involve other people... Do you want to play sports? Take a yoga class? Learn photography? Play in a band?

Met a girl thought she was cute, she had a boyfriend, she left him for me, I got creeped out, don't talk to her no more.

By the way, I'm so freaked out by this idea. I'm finishing up college at the moment and then faced with the prospect of moving home and basically having no friends there anymore. I went to see I Love You, Man last night but I spent the whole movie actually considering how the things Paul Rudd does to make friends can be applied to my real life situations. : (
Not trying to be "shocker, guy from internet is socially awkward", but like, how the fuck do you make friends? Its easy when you start college, everyone is in the same position and everyone is looking for new friends, but dive bombing into a pre-existing network of friends and relationships is actually never something that I've had to deal with. In short, I've never actively had to find friends and I just don't really get how people find friends. My school friends kinda grew into an impregnable clique in my absence, and one guy who I always got on really badly is kinda the alpha male in that gang and has in the past gone out of his way to make me feel really awkward and, well, they've all been hanging out for five years that I wasn't there so I'd pretty much just be a newcomer at this stage.
One of the problems of going to a school that was almost entirely girls as well meant that pretty much all my friends here are girls now, and I don't really know how to talk to other guys really anymore, in that I am just more intimidated by guys in general as a social group, largely because with girls I always kinda feel like I'm never gonna be real member of the group anyway so the pressure's off, but with other guys the idea of not really fitting in anywhere freaks me out a bit more. Just so we're clear, I'm not a social tard, and I can still have a conversation, even if four years of immersion in a social scene entirely populated with "art people" has somewhat stunted my abilities in what exactly constitutes standard shooting the breeze subject matter.
Also, how important is like texting or ringing your friends in terms of keeping in touch. And where do you meet them in the first place, I don't really feel like its possible to go to a bar alone and attach yourself to a group of people and just hang out with them, like that.
Really, how do you make friends, I am confused.
