My Higher evolution of existence theory - From L.P.D!
Ok, bear with me on this one. If you don't read sci-fi and/or are a Buddhist this might sound a tad far-out (which it is).
Pandas as a species have been around for about 8 million years, which is quite a bit longer than Homo-sapiens in any recognisable form. They have had plenty of time to build up panda cities and let them crumble away into dust again. N
ow the idea of a higher plane of existence isn't exactly a new one, the supposed route of getting there varies, quite often its mental and genetic development over time in sci-fi, for some its leading a good clean 'holy' life then dying and for the Buddhists they feel it can be reached through meditation.
Now lets look again at the panda, its had 8 million years of genetic development, 8 million years to get its brain into shape, it sits around all day leading a blameless life and who's to say they aren't meditating as they munch through kilo after kilo of bamboo?!?! So they have all the angles covered really. So here is the crux of my theory..... the pandas are leaving! (this might make more sense if you have read "The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" - so long and thanks for all the bamboo.....)
Maybe they are leaving because they just fancy letting there minds wander the universe, perhaps they have gone to play poker with god, maybe they know that humans (with all our playing around with atoms, electrons and superthaumatological ion drive whizzbees) are going to blow up the planet any day - or maybe they just know the Vogons are coming (like I said, read the "The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy") The reason they don't want to breed is they have been moving up to the higher plane for the last few thousand years and its getting full of panda, so they just want to die out on Earth and let then non-corporeal minds move on to the next thing.
So there you go, that's my theory. I would love to know what you think.
