I have been practicing, a lot. With this:

I had that book years ago. I could do the fake shuffles, but I could never do forces, and never really got the hang of palming a card. But I can still cut a pack of cards with one hand, whic isn't really a trick, but looks impressive, I think.
But my favourite trick from that book is the 'Do as I Do' trick using two packs, which doesn't need any manipulation.

I hope you're not using the awful patter lines suggested in the book.

The simple card force is probably the best magic trick ever invented, but you have to be careful about when you do it, and who you do it to, and always have a trick in reserve in case it doesn't work.
